Because the product is intended only for the Japanese market. A bit like a previous camera which had hundreds of colour combinations for the Japanese market but I think three or four for the international market.

Hmm... KP special edition and all of the silver limited editions for previous models don’t seem to command that huge a premium though.

Pricing will depend on vagaries of collectors.
Maybe you can even get KP-J for $700 as I did with “Silver KP”.
