I don't know what to say... I think you cannot improve what's already perfect, not this way at least.
But then when I think what a niche Pentax is... of course there would be people wishing for a "luxury" version of the flagship. People who own a Alfa Romeo perhaps.
The design looks very "in your face" at first, but then it starts to make sense somehow. Anyway I don't see myself flashing it out of my bag, I would feel too self-conscious.

I don’t find it as appealing as the KP version was. The grip in particular is bisected due to the electronics.

I kind of get the exclusivity of it from the manufacturing processes, it's just that it is not an aesthetically please result .

I like them , isn't this custom top removable? Once you remove it - they will be super stuff

Not to me, either. But I think Pentax has done ok with these things before....

This design kind of reminds me of the "draw a person" game I played as a kid. Where you draw different parts of a body not knowing what the other ones had done.
The different design element just do not seem to fit together very well. It makes the camera look more tacky than elegant.

The prism housing just looks over-engineer and do not match the design of the other parts of the body. The new rubber on the body makes it look cheaper. The wooden grip just looks wierd, especially with the color matching they have choosen (using red grip on black camera and black grip on red camera).
The prism housing seems to extend so much more it makes it difficult to read the DOF/distance scale on the lenses.

See, I like it 😁 I like both the red ones, I also liked the KP. I just wish you could buy the grips separately

There are two nested custom tops and both are removable.

The positive thing is, that they seem to do some marketing. Great for Pentax - and us - if they find some buying customers because of this.

Was the K-30 designed in partnership with J Limited? Or are they insinuating in that first video that these designs draw from the design of the K-30?

Thanks for that.

KP J Limited somehow reminded me of Leningrad Cowboys and that wasn't a bad thing.

The outer custom top of K-1II J Limited looks to me like a sumo wrestler cos-playing Leningrad Cowboys, it's just too much of too much for my taste. The inner custom top as well as the bare top of K-1II J Limited are much better, and they both have cool AOC logo.
