Assuming these latest rumors are true, the announcement (正式発表) will mean the following.
- Promotional material for the camera will go live. This means the product pages on the website and the catalog will be in shops and online.
- The product will be available preorder on the Ricoh website and other usual retailers that stock Pentax
- Embargos and NDAs on the product will be released. This will depend on who had access to the camera in advance, but I think there is a good chance that websites like DPR will have detailed reviews ready. The product was finished and reviewed by Japanese magazines a couple of months ago. They just had production trouble preventing them from going on sale.
- The Ricoh Imaging Square locations will likely have a display model that visitors can try out. (Fairly certain for Tokyo and Osaka, and I hope the case for Shanghai, Moscow, Paris)
- The availability date will be announced (reportedly end of April, and almost always a Friday)
On the availability date (発売日):
- The camera will be in stores
- In recent years, I've noticed preorders overseas seem to have been sent out a bit before that, and the first customer taking delivery are outside Japan. I guess delivery trouble during COVID could affect that this year.
