It is one of my most used lenses and I like it, but I also would be interested to see if Pentax could improve its performance -- particularly wide open edge sharpness, etc.
I think all standard zooms have some weaknesses, but it feels like they could do a little better with a DFA *24-70.
I do agree. I have 15-30. I like it as it is. I did not go for 24-70, because of it could be better. I bought 28-105, because it is a nice compromise. If Pentax would make DFA*24-70, I’d buy that. I’m sure that it could be what DFA 24-70 is not.
I’ll propably buy DFA21 limited. And even if there would be really nice 15 mm with filter option too, DfA15-30 would still hold it’s place. Unless there would be DFA * 16/17-35 with filter threads . As far as I know, only that wide with some sort of FF function is 11-18 from 16-18 mm. (Which is actually why I’m thinking of replacing my DFA 15-30 to that and buying K-3III to get that zoom range, but also UV ‘17mm’ FF prime with filter threads
yeah. I’m still cooking that thought ...
