Recently I was photographing a church in a small village in the Wachau - the apricot trees, famous as a local specialty, were in full bloom - and a bird just made a sharp curve above my head while letting it go. I could see IT and followed it with my eyes until it landed on the car in front of the priest's house. And it obviously was not the first of it's kind on exactly that spot. Which was surprising, since I normally experience such a malaise on a car as a result of parking beneath a branch or wire birds use to sit on. But this was BIF-skills on a high level...

It’s the 16th in Tokyo, and so the most recent round of impressions videos from ambassadors have been released. Haven’t had a chance to watch any yet, but wildlife photographer Rene Fisher is in this week’s group!

Wow, the 16-50 is sharp handheld at 1/4 second. When you add the fact one of the Ambassadors took sharp DA*300 images of birds handheld at a 1/10 of a second the stabilization will be very noticeably improved.
This reviewer considers 12 frames/sec overkill (he's a sports photographer) and apparently prefers 7 or 8 frames/sec. Testing he got about 13 or 15 seconds of burst shots (depends on how well I count seconds) before the buffer filled. Not bad, not bad at all!

Nice hands-on video from Albert Siegel.

I think he is the first person to compare the K3iii to the D500 and he seems to think it is "close" in terms of AF.

Very encouraging. And the sheer fact that we are discussing D500 in the same sentence as a Pentax camera is new territory.

Alright. Just watched that but missed this point. I thought there was some sort ’head to head’ thing too...but I noticed excitement.

I think he only made a brief reference to it. IMO there's really no reason to as no one interested in the K3 III would all of a sudden today say "gosh I think I'll order the (chunkier and less ergonomic) Nikon D500 instead". The fact the K3 III is released now won't suddenly make the D500 an attractive purchase if you hadn't already bought into it.

Not that I would specially be interested of old tech like D500, but since it has been big part of discussion at here, it would be interesting to see. regardless. It really seems as also told by others so far to be excatly the update we hav been waiting for.

Here's another, from a Canadian female photographer. It's a personal appraisal, but she has some good insights.

I enjoyed her video. Down to earth and not too fussed by the technicalities. Ricoh Imaging has lined up, what, 28 Impressions videos? Interesting to see the various perspectives.

(On a side note, according to her bio at her website, Rene names her hometown as Austin, Texas. She moved to Canada in 2015 to join her partner, now husband.)
