DA* 300 F4 + TC 1.4

If I recall it happened also to me when I bought it. I keep my cameras always updated. I never had it anymore.

For All,

The On/Off switch is electronically controlled by the chipset and is not between the motherboard and the battery, so it's clearly an issue in the Firmware and not physically.
Interesting. I had that with my K5 and a 70-300 Sigma lens. (Never with any other lens) I've not been able to reproduce the same fault with the K-1ii. In my case, it only happened at the long end of the zoom and only if the battery level was low.

I've had a similar experience with one of my cameras but I don't recall which one. A firmware update fixed it.

I know it’s not the thread for this. Anyone had the same issue? My k3 III froze, I couldn’t even turn it off like you can see on the picture. I had to remove and put back the battery to resolve the issue…
In December, my KP fell off my lap two feet onto a carpeted floor - and suddenly it could not AF.

Several hours later, I thought of removing and putting back the battery - and it has acted normally since then.
In my case. I believe that the SR caused the firmware to wander in a way that it shouldn't have.
Most likely yours was also a result of wandering firmware - I would guess you gave it a series of commands that the designers hadn't anticipated;
hopefully they will figure it out and fix it in some upgrade.

Focusing with this lens is rather slow.

Regardless of AF (which looks great) I love the images! Thanks for sharing.

Obviously we are seeing the results of a skilled photographer who is used to maximizing his gear.

Test on a horse starting to gallop : K-3 III + DFA*70-200mm @f/2.8 and 200mm :

12 shots in High burst mode (RAW DNG + JPEG "small")

First & last shots (centered crossed-combined AF-C + full grid + "hold 3" ) :

Successive crops (SOOC taken from JPEGs "small") :

That's a very helpful burst sample for those considering the camera. I like that you matched 100% cropping on the entire set, making it easy to review.

BTW, how did you arrive at Hold 3? Obviously it worked well.

Hello,
i selected it from the start (translated from french) [Menu 1 / AF viewfinder / AF hold status / AF hold high].
I haven't tried other combinations yet

With the DA* 50-135? That has not been my experience. It's not PLM fast (nothing is), but much faster than any of my screw drives and seems faster than my Sigma HSM lenses.

I'm most impressed, technologically, with shots of the car coming toward the photographer. Good panning technique handles moving shots across the focal plane, but only software/hardware can account for a rapidly changing focal plane and anticipate where focus will be a split second after the shutter is pressed. Nice!

I think @gatorguy’s question is more about why you picked high for AF hold. I found with trying to track baseball players running toward me/away from me, I did better with AF hold off. Seems that we may just all have to experiment with our subjects to see what AF hold setting works best.

Really? Mine is an optical gem but a veeeeery slow AF lens.
