AF-C of K-3III is impressive

In another thread (This is the Pentax K-3 Mark III - Page 24 - PentaxForums.com) @JPT pointed us to the blog of Yaotomi staff reporting his/her impressions on K-3III, it had a link to K-3III AF-C test but it probably wasn't that conspicuous to those who don't read Japanese. I made a comment in that thread but it was so impressive I thought it deserved its own thread.

Anyway, the direct link is this.
?????? PENTAX K-3III @ review vol.1??? ? ???????AF-C - ????
The train is approaching towards the camera at 100+ km/h (i.e. 62+ mph), he shot a sequence of 18 frames using 55-300 PLM with ~7fps Continuous Shooting (M) mode and Expanded Area AF (S) focus area. Looking at 1:1 crops, there's only one frame that is out of focus.

Yes, I think pentaxians will be in treat with this new thing. It is going to be fun, not that it has not been so far, but more so.

Yes. I'm looking forward to the upcoming reviews. The AF does look impressive. It will probably overwhelm the non-AF users. Hahaha!

It seems that ALL first impressions are without the latest firmware.
All the reviewers mention that they have preproduction units without the finalized firmware.
All the reviewers say they AF is impressive as it is - with improved firmware even more so!

I see 3 OOF frames; still looks like a solid performance.

With beta firmware I'd consider it better than solid.

It's terribad. The train wasn't weaving sideways, and certainly not doing somersaults... clearly they went easy on the K-3iii for this test!

Jokes aside, it looks very good. I kinda doubt my K-1 would have managed that.

I saw those too but those other two look like a bit of motion blur rather than soft focus.

I wonder how fast the train was traveling.
I know with US trains, 1/500 is sufficient to "stop" them.

Wow. Impressed. Just wow.

Should apppear in a K1 III just at the good time so it should have a decent price in second hand when my doughter will be ... 'up to speed"

Will she move at 100km/h?
Or she will rather swerve around at bicycle speeds? Then, the DPR review might be more relevant...
