How come? That's the only app that doesn't function on it. It's not the newest model out there, but so far everything works fine.

I have updated the firmware on my K-1 shortly after release. I have the feeling that Pentax/Ricoh not only tweaked the AF to the Limiteds, but made some general improvements. Two of my old Sigma lenses (EX APO 70-200mm, 180mm Macro) seems to be performing a lot better (faster maybe) and more accurately.
They both perforemd well on the K-1 before, but definitely better with the new firmware.

Just picked up my K-3 iii with firmware 1.0 so I'll need to update both my K-3 and new K-3 iii with firmware updates this weekend.

yes, they are coming with the original firmware , I have the latest downloaded waiting in anticipation.......

Just did both of mine. The Mark III update took seconds while the old K-3 took about a minute to do.

7 years is a big difference in terms of hardware processing capabilities...

I used the old "trick" ( usable on some old Pentaxes ) while pressing the MENU turn the camera on , it did work , took me straight to the firmware update page.....there you have it

New version of Image Sync works, so my issues were definitely from the app..
