Just updated my K-1 Mark II and KP. If this makes my old princesses perform better, any desire for the HD versions should wane appreciably.

I think it would be appropriate after the camera has been out longer perhaps. Which features did you think might work in the KP?

Fuji body updates are tiny and incremental. The K-3 iii is a completely different camera, so I doubt the KP will be capable of supporting many, if any, of its new features.

Those who want K-3iii features can be like I am - I hope for the AF features in a K-70 followup while hoping it will still come in under $1001 eventually.
Features are not free - we should not expect Pentax to hand them out like candy, and I can think of few differences between the KP and K-3iii that would not require new hardware.

I've updated my K-70 and tested my 77mm before and after and noticed no difference, maybe the changes are there but I thought the 77 did pretty good for a screw drive anyway...

Thanks for letting us know. I've just downloaded the update. I guess I have to buy the lenses next !
Beware, it is hard to stop at just one

It might give them the itch to try those FA Limiteds.

Wait, is that a benefit? We both know that it's a very slippery slope of LBA

I guess the question is why is the "optimized focus operation" implemented for only the FA Limited lenses, and how is it implemented through the firmware update?

What is unique about the Limiteds' AF operation and implementation?

Was there a glitch in the previous AF algorithm or its implementation in firmware?

I was a bit too fast doing the upgrade. Had 5 minutes between online meetings, so I decided to install the firmware upgrade on my K-3II. Did so without first checking AF on my FA limiteds pre upgrade... doh...

Anyway, just tested them now. I've been liveview manual focusing these for wide open use for as long as I remember, because they always seemed to slightly miss focus (also on my current K-3II). Tested both the FA31 and FA77 wide open, and both were spot on at all focus distances.

So either I never noticed this has been fixed in the past, or it is now, or my tests were not enough "in-the-field". For now, I'm assuming the firmware upgrade did what it said it would.

Just my 2 cents...

Yeah, I'm also hoping for a larger OVF and improved AF-C with more AF point in next firmware update for KP.

placebo effect , use your imagination , of course the focus is much better now.
I did all my cameras and they are all now as fast as lightning!

Updated my K-3

I just updated my K-3... It does seem different in live view. This is with the DA* 200 2.8 sdm on a very small picture.

Now I wish I did a before and after.

Somehow youtube restricted the video? maybe the title?
