Calibrate your monitor before any kind of editing. I use Spyder 5 Pro and get 99%Srgb and correct colors to start off with.
Not calibrated monitors are the reason to all wiered pictures ending up in different forums. People start off totally wrong and makes it worse.

With appropriate hardware, it is probably may be possible to telnet in via the USB port. I suspect it is used for handling the bundled user manual and DCU software.

Not GR, but the GRiii specifically.
Here it is: Open Source Software (OSS) | RICOH IMAGING
Interesting. Apparently it uses a Linux bootloader called Stubby (I think U-boot is probably a more typical bootloader for embedded Linux). The Stubby readme file references the mb86s27 which is the 8th generation Milbeaut (Socionext) image processor. It supports full HD @ 120fps, 4K @ 30fps, H.264 codec - I guess that is already well-known.

Doubt af could be significantly improved over firmware updates. Maybe in the mirrorless world, I remember my EM1 got way better af over time. Plus loads of new features were introduced.

Thanks for connecting the dots and providing the Milbeaut confirmation.

Probably not on bodies that got them this time. However, the K-3 iii's AF will likely get many enhancements via firmware update. It uses the AE/AF sensor and is powered by algorithms developed through machine learning, so they can re-train the algorithms on computers at Ricoh Imaging HQ and then bundle up new, improved algorithms for us to install via firmware update.

I believe it, newer camera seem to get way more out of software updates

Android didn’t make sense at all to me. I’ll sleep better knowing it isn’t.

Haha, I quite agree with you although as a fun note, it is ironic Android was first developped as a camera OS before being brought under the Google umbrella.

Here though I'm quite surprised. Not by the Linux, Busybox etc and frankly I'm relieved this isn't android, but by Milbeaut.

So they still are dependent on Socionext. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised but IMO Socionext has become more of a liability than anything else.
They really don't have the ressources, alas.

The Zeiss ZX-1 used android and it was a disastrous choice by all accounts.

Oh, I'm not surprised.
It may have been developed for cameras but what android is now, we like it or not but on a camera? No thanks.

It would have been fun on the tinkering point of view though...

My image sync wouldn't connect to my K-1 and GRIII, whatever settings I've tried. I wish they'd spend some cash on testing the app, especially considering that griii doesn't have any other means of remote shutter..
I'd say it's your phone, not the app, Awscreo!

I've just checked the content's of the files and as expected and requited by the gpl etc it contains all the foss software they have patched. (you have to provide the changed source code, as part of the license of foss software)

The software listed are basic linux components

Busybox is a compact version of posix compliant os tools (a gnu alternative). So something on the camera is indeed running Linux.
