Prices have already increased!!

Sigma 105 macro has now increased from about A$599 to A$799!! It is now more expensive than DFA100 which is selling at A$703. Macro - Lenses with macro feature both zoom and fixed focal length lenses.

Camera action is selling the Tamron 90 for A$639 and camerawarehouse is still selling at A$589. It is a matter of time before camerawarehouse revised their prices....and upwards!!

crazy my sigma 105mm and 18-50mm macros cost me around AUD$450-476 from adorama in May/June this year!

Yup. between the OCAU Pentaxians and ^Catalyst (ironically, a Nikon shooter), we've pretty much given the K200D + DA18-55/Sigma 17-70 OCAU's seal of approval

Incidentally, Teds are promoting the K-M + DA L 18-55 on TV. that'll make a few more pentaxians.

though, at 899, why? that's 16 less than the K200D + Sigma 17-70. When do they lose exclusivity?

EDIT: sir_bazz and SupremeMoFo are somewhere here too...
Yeah value for money seems to be the new theme in our current financial climate

Hey ... they give ppl $2K rebate for installing LPG ... should be the same for Camera gear.

I really should find $965 for the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 while it is still available at that price.

And others that are thinking about the Tamron 90mm ... get it while it is still under $600 at DCW.

DCW prices up!

For those of us that lust after Tamron lenses, Digital Camera Warehouse put up Tamron prices at midnight (as previously forecast) - the SP 90mm f2.8 macro went up to AUD$765 (from AUD$585). The Pentax 100mm f2.8 macro is now cheaper (AUD$709).....

I'm kicking myself - but that hot water service replacement has eaten my money !

DCW is a little interesting. Their staffs need to be repeatedly "prompted" and "directed" to provide service to you. One of my most interesting experience is a staff giving me availability of olympus lens stock with 3 answers over 10 minuts on the phone. Creativity potential with their staffs

Well, buying cheap does have its own price. But buying it expensive does not get you service in australia.

I've just done a search on B&H and Adorama - and with the price rises in Oz, and the dollar hovering around US$0.70, even with shipping, the prices are cheaper (about AUD$715 for the Tamron 90mm from B&H, AUD$752 from Adorama)

Me thinks we are being shafted by local suppliers - still!

Of course we are!!

DCW use to be the store of choice for me, but a continued decline in service and no flexibility in pricing, forced me elsewhere. I've mentioned it before, but the best service I've received is from Camera House on Elizabeth St in Melbourne City. I've purchased a few items from them and have been given excellent prices on top of the helpful service.

Another place I've brought from is Prodigital2000 in Canada. Very good pricing, has a make an offer option via ebay.ca, shipping is high, but the total cost still works out cheaper than B&H on most (not all) items.

Watch out the guy called Steve in camera house who apparently had been sacked from one store to another. Now he is nesting in there. He stuffed up a few purchases of mine including the expensive olympus lenses there.

The store manager and general manager are all very helpful but store manager never comes out to the service desk. General manager leaves the store at 4 pm or so. The rest of the staff are just zombies walking around moving their lips like moaning.

Maybe we can start a thread writing about all the saleman in melbourne CBD stores here. Their service are really too impressive to not be mentioned here. Maybe publishing a local book about them too

I had been servided by these people since my film days. So many stories to tell

The worst is Michael's.

I agree.

At Camera House, out of the many staff, I only allow 2 people serve me...I won't name, names, but one knows a lot about photography & Pentax, the other also knows photography & is higher up the employment ladder.

By the way, camera action is still selling the Tamron 90 for A$669, more expensive now, but still cheaper than DCW. Maybe u can buy from them instead.

The Tamron 70-200/f2.8 increases from A$899 to A$1099!! I am glad i bought the lens when it is at its lowest price.

But I still need the 18-250 lens! It is now A$649 Still need to save up more for this lens!! HELP!! I take paypal and direct banking transfer.

Thanks for that heads up about Camera Action - I'm going to ask the Chief Financial Officer if she'll authorise the purchase today!
