Thanks for that heads up about Camera Action - I'm going to ask the Chief Financial Officer if she'll authorise the purchase today!
Made me laugh...Good luck with that.

Is your CFO gonna authorize the purchase of the lens for YOU only or for ME as well? I did mention I need help in getting the Tamron 18-250?

For those of us that lust after Tamron lenses, Digital Camera Warehouse put up Tamron prices at midnight (as previously forecast) - the SP 90mm f2.8 macro went up to AUD$765 (from AUD$585). The Pentax 100mm f2.8 macro is now cheaper (AUD$709).....

I'm kicking myself - but that hot water service replacement has eaten my money !
lucky i got my 17-50mm tamron 2.8 when i did at AUD$539 now AUD$709!

I was after that one too, I was going to buy from DCW at (IIRC) $519, but went cheap for a 70-300 at $249. The 18-250mm is now $769 Maybe the CFO should organise a bulk buy.

Man!! That 18-250 is so expensive now! Just cannot justify the price for a lens like this anymore

You can save a few $$ buying from the US or Canada. OR, if you don't mind buying 2nd hand, keep an eye on the forum marketplace, 18-250's come up from time to time...I'll let you know if I see any

Thanks dazman.

I bought the Tamron 70-200/f2.8 for A$899 (camera action). This exact same lens is now selling at A$1099 (also camera action). This sorta gives the idea that the DA18-250 selling at A$769 is now way overpriced. The only more economical way is to get 2nd hand lenses.

just out of curiosity how much would it cost in taxes and tariff is you were to say get this shipped to you from an individual in the US? was wondering if it would be cheaper for someone in the us to buy it and ship to you instead of buying it in AUS? i was looking at the adorama website and the pentax 18-250 converted to AUS dollars is like $551.00

No taxes etc on total cost (including shipping) under AUD$1000.
Add shipping costs to the above total and it's about $600. USPS have increased shipping costs to Australia 3-4 months ago.

I agree...that's why I currently buy from Canada, if Australian stores can't match prices.
I know some people have concerns with buying overseas eg. warranties, shipping problems, faulty items. I haven't had any problems to date & always buy from a trusted store/person, while making sure to get an international warranty.

dazman, who/where do you buy the lenses from? If the prices are reasonable I *might* just order a 18-250.

ProDigital2000 - Shop eBay Canada Store - Prodigital2000:: Lowepro, Canon

Very good pricing, has a make an offer option (use it & save another $25-$50), shipping is high, but the total cost still works out cheaper than B&H on most (not all) items. As the AUD$ gets about CAD.85c, make offers/buy items listed in CAD$ and always check the shipping costs...some items have lower/sale prices, but make up for it with higher shipping costs.
I've purchased a DA35 Ltd from them and have just made an offer on a DA12-24. Buying these lenses from this store, rather than Aussie stores, I saved just over AUD$200 on the DA35 and it will be about the same on the 12-24. Prices in Australia have gone up, but I haven't seen any price increases with this store.
