Well we can start the whinging with the pricing. The UK price is much higher than the US price even given our 20% VAT. I expect that it will be offered with substantial discounts within 6 months.

Whingers be whingers. Looks to be the job for the K-3iii. Not too big, not too heavy. Pentax have also published a nice set of MTF figures plus perhaps more importantly for some, expected timing speeds for focusing.

It's the pound that will be offered with substantial discount within six months...

It's quite a bit more expensive than I had hoped it would be. It's only going to enter the "I'd consider a purchase" area with a discount upwards of 40%...

Great news for those who need it and are willing to pay for the release price.

I still have the "old" DA* 16-50 (screw drive converted) and it is doing a good job on the "old" K3 (and on the very old K5).
At $1,399.95 (USD I assume), that would be CDN $1751.00 .... Ouch!

It's a bit on the expensive side but not excessively so. The FF Canon/Nikon 24-70 f2.8 lenses are around C$2200-2500, while the F4 versions are around C$1200-$1300. While the Pentax 24-70 is C$1600 and performs well, I would put its overall refinement taking into account mechanics slightly below star lenses.

Per jpzk, I suspect this new lens will land at C$1700-$1800. Both the DFA85 and K-3 III were priced at $2000 USD and initially sold for $2500 CAD (x1.25).

That's what my calculation came to: $1751 (CDN) and hopefully it will go down a bit ... or maybe I should wait for a "deal" when it shows up on the Marketplace here?
Nonetheless, specs seem impressive.

1. The US price is without any applicable sales taxes, right?

2. The US warranty is just twelve months, what will it be for you in the UK, Steephill?

Ooh, what a mighty combination the K-3 III, the DA*11-18, the DA*16-50, and say, the DFA*50, will be.

I've just drooled all over my business shirt, apologies for that!
