Honestly since neither the K-1 or 645 series have AF performance as their main focus (we really need to stop making this joke ), it would be comparatively easy to upgrade the cameras with the new electronics. I can't really speak for the 645 successor, but the only painful part of using the K-1 is its sluggishness with data processing. Make it act snappier, add the new OVF (which should not be nearly as hard to upsize as the development was) and extra touches from the K-3iii - joystick, top LCD - and that's it. Everything else can stay as it was without much extra development.
I was just yesterday shooting with my K-1, and I have been lately using mostly my K-3III. Today I switched back to K-3III, AF and all is just so much more intuitive, snappy, AF really works...While I was walking in rain today I just said to my self that they should make that new K-1 soon. Nice camera and I have got plenty nice/great photos, but yeah, update is needed. I know that there are many with their K-1II to wait for the same update no one would have K-3II had in couple yeas later.

About that VF, If they just would use brighter prism, I'd recon it would be good already...now make it a tad bigger, while you are at it... no one would be interested of that price tag

The K-3iii got a price increase of about ~500€ due to the massive upgrades it got (it's basically a whole new platform). The K-1iii wouldn't need much extra surcharge, they'd certainly manage to keep it under 3000€ even with a suitably large OVF.

We know that the machining of the K-3 III prism is expensive but I imagine the glass is also pricey and that a ff prism would be larger than a apsc one. There is also the question how much of the K-3III price is driven by the prism. For me a better magnification ovf is very attractive with a aspc camera, with a ff camera I don't know but benchmarks do move. The K-1 ovf is a bit greenish so I'm sure it could be improved even if magnification stayed the same.

I would expect a new GR before a new FF just because it seems to be a more successful product and the K-1 is still pretty good in it's niche. A monochrome GR III sounds like relatively simple iteration, though I could underestimate the complication.

I'm sure that they could, it was massive upgrade and for that I'd say that we really did get plenty, K-3III is really a machine you can tke to gig and get exellent photos with out worry of if you can take 'that' photo or not. I'd love to have same experience with K-1, really. So if they will and I really think that they will, then it would be as hard for me to resist than this K-3III was...

Yes, I do agree that VF what K-1 has now should just be clear and bright, size increase would not actually be needed(would be cool, but size is good already

In case it is not clear:

-- The listings are likely for bluetooth/wi-fi certification/registration or changes

-- All but one are accounted for by known models (i.e. changes)

FWIW...Past notes of this sort have been remarkable in their lack of predictive value.

GM and Ford canceled their compact trucks when people were buying bigger trucks, but it didn't take long for them to re-release them as mid-size trucks.

Especially since the Ricoh CEO mandated premium quality, not market share.
Norm, aren't you a teacher/retired teacher? How many of your students brought premium cameras to class? I'm guessing there was a disproportionate amount of students using entry-level models like Canon's Rebel series compared to high-end, or even mid-level cameras. I don't know many parents who would purchase a Nikon D7500 for their kid to take a photo class and I don't know many young college students who have the money, on top of tuition and books, to purchase a D7500 or 90D or above for a photo class.

Pre-COVID the Rebel T6 cameras were $400 and the D3500 cameras were $450. A few months into the pandemic the prices went up about $150. An affordable entry-level camera certainly has its place.

Monochrom anything would be another "Leica trend clue" for Ritax's future
I can think of worse brands Pentax could associate themselves with. Leica with their conceptually interesting, but poorly implemented Digital module-R for their Leica SLR cameras

A Pentax Monochrome DSLR for the APS-C/FF/645 system would be a welcome line for Pentax to produce and gain a unique advantage. There are distinct resolution and low light advantages in going monochrome.
