I believe 35mm is much more common in “FF” usage.
I’ve noticed that amongst Takumars, there are many more 35mm’s for sale than there are 24mm.
That might well be because there were many more 35mm lenses made (back then, 24 was very wide - there was entire 1 optical formula used in 24mm Taks and it was a relatively complex formula.
(Or those who have the 24mm are not selling them )

If i remember correctly wouldn't low distortion be important for your work work?
You do remember correctly. But I use the Z for that sort of work, the best gear I have. I only use my K1mkII for gallery installation shots if I need super UWA, so the 15-30. I use that as little as possible, though, since you get the stretching distortion. But the K1mkII is a great device, and so it is an acceptable backup for my Z. I have primes for best distortion performance.

I typically use my K1mkII at work for installations documentation: for instance how a bolt seats in a sculpture, conditioning reports, details of an assembly, electronics, a sequence of steps, & etc. Sometimes I've got the camera slung on my back while I'm simultaneously installing something. Sometimes these aren't art works, but construction related items like the glass doors I'll be installing this week, previously documented and now in a pdf instruction manual.

Also this week I'll be using the K1mkII to do time lapse of the installation of a scrim around the scaffolding that is currently surrounding our building as we do major repairs to it. Done 2 days so far, another 1-2 tomorrow and Wednesday. I've used the time lapse functions multiple times over the last several years.

So, for these more prosaic shots, the K1mkII is great and the 24-105 would be better than the 24-70 for me. For this kind of work I almost always need the lens stopped down for all things to be in acceptable focus. Thus a slower lens is no issue at all. If I know I need isolation then I have lenses that do that.

They could(should?) do that and FA*300/2.8 as well as 600/4 and Perhaps 250-600/5,6 while they are in full speed.
A DFA* refresh of the FA*250-600mm f/5.6 ED would sell well I think, the Nikkor G 200-500mm ED VR has proved there is a market for such a lens.

I haven't heard that. As far as I know, the large aperture wide-Angle single focus lens is not 35/1.4.

Does anybody still remember asahiman's last rumor?
In my opinion, asahiman has overdrawn his credit.
Even if personal stereotypes are put aside, there are many options in this list that are extremely unreliable.

No UWA lenses I guess my 15-30 f4 dream won't come true anytime soon.

The Nikon 200-500/5.6 is ~ 40% of the weight of the FA* 250-600/5.6, and a DFA* version of that lens would likely cost at quadruple that of the Nikon. Seems tough to say that one justifies the other.

Perhaps a reservation-based run of DFA* 250-600 lenses, in similar vein as the Olympus 150-400/4.5 PRO, might be feasible?

Like some other folks, I think if Pentax decides to go zoomier than the DFA 150-450, they will look to the Tamron 150-600.

Which is a variable aperture slow as hell zoom lens with no accommodation for internal filters, and doesn't internally zoom the way the higher end Nikkor G or FA* super-telephoto lenses do.

Slightly different size, weight, price class…
200-500 is the same as the 150-450. One long tele makes more sense, a long zoom with special parameters would be nice, but it too expensive. A fresnel tele would fit the price, weight, size bill.

There is one thing I like about the external zoom is that it can be used a push and pull lens and find it slightly more convenient than an internal when it comes to action.
And if my memory is correct the G 200-500 is not an internal zooming lens.

And when we get into lenses like the 250-600 f5.6 the price jumps up it would be basically in the range of the Nikon 180-400 f4 much different than the 200-500 external zoom.
One of the nice things with the 600mm zooms is that they can get you to 600 6.3 at a very reasonable price, prior it took the 200-400 f4 and a TC at 3 time the price and all I gained was less than a 1/3 of a stop

I kind of did know based on previous conversations from this forom that this kind of conversation would come up. DFA 150-450 is definetly already the way to go. It still is not DFA* and there are people who would be ready for that kind of upgrade(not me, because one day with enough money I’ll buy that 150-450) . That might be one of the reasons why we don’t have that long lens catalog developed more further than that. They had DA 560 for offer. Many waited untill launch price was dropped way down. And it is discontinued. Dunno when there will be replacement. They should have one.
