I knew I should have waited for the 24-105.
Now what will I do with my 28-105 and Sigma 24 macro?

I don't agree with Pentax focus if the above is correct.
I'm not surprised.

In the meanwhile we're updating our shopping lists.

asahi man's track record hasn't been great lately... so I take those rumors with a whole ladle of salt. Not to mention that filling this list, given current release tempo, would take roughly half a century.

Does anyone know how many lenses Pentax releases per year on average?
Just curious.

I'd sell my 24-70 for that 24-105, as long as the performance is as good as the 28-105. I'm one of those who don't need fast lenses. In my work-work, having the 24 at the one end and 105 at the long would be a boon.

Mmm IMO they always intended do provide DFA* 2.8 standard zoom lenses. And the current 24-70 is not. It isn't bad but it is no * lens either.
The 15-30 is excellent and can stay that way the 24-70 will be replaced some time in the future.
I do not think that they intended anything other than letting the Pentax brand survive. Doubling on a lens they already have does not fit that bill. IMHO!

They already have a superb optical design in the bag, the FA*200mm f/4 ED Macro...time to trot it out.

Can't disagree with you on this (I'm fortunate enough to have an A*200 Macro) - but if they are able to produce a newer D FA*200 Macro (possibly an f2.8 version - or faster ) with the qualities they have brought to the recent 50mm and 85mm beauties then I'm in

The thing is, asahi man posts what Pentax is "researching", not necessarily what they are committed to releasing. He could be 100% correct in what he posts, but if Pentax decides to release only 1 out of 5 products they are considering, some folks criticize him for being "wrong".

DFA 70-300 - Possibly
DFA 4.0 24-105 - Not going to happen
DFA 1.4 35 - Waiting for it
DFA macro - Refresh of what? the 50 or 100, one needs a new body + motor, the other needs work on its optics or a redesign
DA 50-135 or 150 - Presumably with PLM motors?
Prototype and or studies
DFA... 300 - New motors and design language?
DFA 500 or 600 - Click bait
DFA 24-70 - Perhaps as a Star lens, it must grate with some of the optics team that there is a bought in /2.8 zoom(s)

Agreed.
This is very common in many industries.

Thanks!

some lenses can be suggested without reading the glass ball, like the 35 DFA, the 70-300, a new unspecified macro, the update of 50-135 ... in the middle some jokers (500 or 600) and 24-105 that would be appreciated. We'll see. Strange that 21 DFA limited is not mentioned (will it be out?) And that according to this map it would remain alone...

the DFA 21 is already happening so not much point to include it in "Prototypes / Planned / forecasted" list.
for me personally the compactness / size is being more and more important so:
FDA* 24-105/24-70 F4
and perhaps something like new excellent FE ( FF) Sony 28-60 retractible.

If i remember correctly wouldn't low distortion be important for your work work?
