The next top seller. Well done Ricoh, especially with the tele converter. Sigma had the dp2 series with different focal lengths sometime ago, now the GR matches the concept - plus everything that makes the GR great.
An obvious step, but not every company makes this step. Well done.

You'll have to get different colored rings to tell them apart! Till you lose those...

I think one of the most exciting things is that this will be a really decent normal to slight tele compact camera that smartphone cameras still can't approximate with any decent IQ. I can get an okay snapshot from my Pixel phone at 28mm, but not 40mm.

Nice!!! Though carrying a second GR III would be confusing to me, as both versions seem to look (and feel) too similar. 28mm equiv is more flexible to me, so I'll stick to that. The 1.5x teleconversion GT-2 does look nice for just in case. I suppose it would fit the original GR III as well? That would turn the GR III into a 42mm equiv and move the crop modes one step longer...

It seems the adapters can't be used across cameras iii, iiix. So ultra wide for wide and tele for standard.

Accessories / RICOH GR III/GR IIIx | RICOH IMAGING

See which model is highlighted for each accessory.

Nice surprise. Interesting compact in many respects. Can anyone tell if it was the new registered room where a new GR was assumed?

I hope for more surprise announcements !!!

Looks like the lens design beats what we get for our DSLR. GRIIIx MTF chart plots are for 15lp/mm and 45lp/mm. MTF plots of my FF lenses at 10 and 30lp/mm aren't as flat as the ones shown for the GRIII lens at 15 and 45 lp/mm. That's probably an advantage of a fixed lens camera design.

I wouldn't notice. Having documented a full tripod with DSLR and the 40 ltd only, I've stitched multiple images when I wanted a wider view, but I didn't have anything for tele shots at the time. I could now see how useful that normal + tele combo is . e.g wide + normal + tele, wide view done by stitching a couple of captures.

After using the GR II I'm always wondering why it's so sharp compared to the DSLR primes. Perhaps different design objectives, perhaps flange distance and fixed lens design. I still wish they could get that kind of performance in a smallish DSLR prime.

Probably all together. Microlens array tuned for one lens only, flange distance tuned to the lens, relatively slow optics.

Looking forward to hearing what the people wishing for a standardish GR make of it in their actual use. For me the 28 equiv makes much more sense for this kind of camera. 40mm demands a different kind of framing and I wonder how the form factor and ergonomics works for that purpose.
