Ricoh EU has sold out of GR IIIx cameras. “The next delivery is expected middle of December 2021.”

It was pretty heavily advertised on YT by various influencers, even those more esoteric like Sean Tucker so I suppose anyone interested in such camera or street photography was running to shops (or keyboard) like crazy.

Good for Ricoh

They did go out of stock rather quickly - I was lucky to get mine, but I can guess stock will filter in rather slowly to retailers for a while.

has it been in stock in the US? BH has been backordered every time I've looked.

Basically, it's a LOT to pay for compactness. I have an X-T20 (and an older but even more compact X-M1) with Fujinon 23mm f/2 lens, and that's as compact as I'd ever need, but I suppose some people really want something that will fit in even a small pocket.
The GR's quickly became the most used cams I own, so I would love a longer focal length.

I'm still on the fence, as I would love one but can't choose between them - and I'm also eying the 16-50mm or the new 21mm. Can't have them all, and that means I'm having none at the moment

I must be the exception; I have no place for the GR.

Because of its flexibility, I use the “Q” {or my iPhone} where others seem to use the GR.

Yes, I've seen them in stock on Amazon several times, and ordering directly from Ricoh US worked for me. Keeping an eye on all the major outlets should get you one sooner or later, I think they tend to trickle in as opposed to being stocked in large waves. That seems "normal" right now during the chip shortage/ports bottleneck stuff.

the iPhone doesn't quite deliver that IQ, and I don't have the Q, nor does it make much sense to invest in one now. Actually, the GR convinced me that 24 Mp on APS-C delivers in spades, although I know that there is more flexibility and depth IQ-wise in FF or MF.
Often I don't bring anything along and the iPhone leaves me underwhelmed. That's where the Ricoh comes in. The IQ is astonishing, since it has an excellent lens which is fine-tuned to the sensor.
I don't have one though at the moment, funds are not endless.

Hmm, sounds like that's not quite right: you have a place for the GR, but you fill it with something else. The GR is sort of the in between camera. Portability is very close to the iPhone, shooting utility and speed is more like the Q.

I presume you are aware that the GR sensor is about nine times the size of the Q7 sensor. And the GR III is *more* pocketable.

That's unusual, definitely a bug-squashing, they tend to roll tweaks into their feature enhancing updates, so this one must be a bad one.

I guess I would feel anxious about a GRIII in my pocket: dust (trouser/coat pockets) and risk of falling out (shirt pocket). Question then is, if I carry it separately, how much gain is the size?
