Guys, you simply need to read my post. And not answer something arbitrarily. A lot of people answer inprecise of a pricise question.

I understand you mean shake. Thank you.

Sorry, couldn't find your post. DO you know if you click on the number, you can send us to the exact post you refer to with a link.

Almost all of us have experience "can't lock focus because I can't stabilize the camera enough." even though keeping the subject in the viewfinder. We've also heard that in lens stabilization as opposed to IBIS helps with this.

If no one don't understands what you're asking.....

One more such patent application: JP2021-165829A, published on 14 October 2021. It was filed on 12 February 2021.

特開2021-165829 | 知財ポータル「IP Force」

This patent application includes seven examples:
  • Example 1: 72.08-291.32mm f/4.6-5.7
  • Example 2: 71.90-291.36mm f/4.6-5.8
  • Example 3: 103.00-388.00mm f/4.6-5.7
  • Example 4: 72.10-388.00mm f/4.1-5.8
  • Example 5: 72.10-388.00mm f/4.1-5.8
  • Example 6: 154.50-582.00mm f/5.3-6.5
  • Example 7: 103.00-292.00mm f/2.9-4.1

All of them have an image circle's radius of 21.64mm (i.e. 24x36 lenses), all of them include SR.

Example 4 has a very short backfocus (between 8.3mm and 32.2mm depending on the focal length) and is impractical for an ILC. This is the same with example 5: backfocus ranges between 7.4mm and 33.5mm.

Example 7 has a short backfocus too (18mm). It's impractical for an SLR but could be used with a mirrorless mount.

In short and using 'commercial' focal lengths and apertures:
  • 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6: two examples
  • 70-400mm f/4-5.6: two examples (unusable for any ILC though, too short backfocus)
  • 100-300mm f/2.8-4: one example (for mirrorless mounts only)
  • 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6: one example
  • 150-600mm f/5-6.3: one example

So it's clear they've been doing a good bunch of R&D in putting SR in teles. Fingers crossed for a non-Star, non-Limited 70-300 .

So we should expect a D FA70-300mm SR

Probably the one on the roadmap. But the 150-600 is compelling...

I guess so. Among the 36 lens examples included in the four patent applications filed by Ricoh during the last year and a half, there are:
  • three 70-200mm f/2.8 SR
  • one 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SR
  • twenty 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 SR
  • three 70-400mm f/4-5.6 SR unsuitable to any ILC mount because their backfocus is too short (7mm, 8mm and 11mm at the wide end)
  • one 100-300mm f/2.8-4 SR with an 18mm backfocus, which would only be suitable to a mirrorless mount
  • three 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 SR
  • one 120-600mm f/5-6.3 SR
  • and four 150-600mm f/5-6.3 SR.

Therefore one can safely bet that the Telephoto Zoom Lens on the roadmap will become the HD-Pentax D FA 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 SR, the full name of which will also include a bunch of fancy acronyms such as ED, PLM and WR.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if one of those three 70-200mm f/2.8 SR happened instead... I have a love-hate relationship with the current 70-200.

So a FF mirrorless camera might be in the works?

Pentax said years ago, they'd produce mirrorless when they felt the tech had matured enough. My interpretation, tech made by third party manufacturers that would allow Pentax to design a mirrorless with off the shelf tech, no custom chips. Maybe the tech. is mature enough now.

No, that's only a clickbait title.

Over the last year and a half, there have been four patents applications, including the two referred to by Pentax Rumors, which pertain to the Telephoto Zoom Lens from the roadmap. Among the 36 lens examples included in these applications:
  • twenty are 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 SR lenses suitable to SLRs
  • twelve cover other focal length and maximum aperture ranges and are also suitable to SLRs
  • three are 70-400mm f/4-5.6 unsuitable to any ILC mount because their backfocus is too short (7mm, 8mm and 11mm at the wide end)
  • one, a 100-300mm f/2.8-4 with an 18mm backfocus, would only be suitable to a mirrorless mount.

My interpretation is “MILC is not for us - we’ll see exclusively to the {few} people who prefer OVF.”

FWIW in my opinion a 600mm f5 lens would be really nice. I tried my DFA 150-450 on the weekend with the HDDA 1.4x TC and the result looked slightly fogged. The lenses of the TC look perfectly clean to me, so the "fog" is hard to explain.

Increasing the maximum focal length from 450 to 600 while being slightly faster would be really good!
