Excellent news. And with shake reduction in the lenses working in conjunction with IBIS, telephoto shooters are going to enjoy this.

No, they're old Konica-Minolta DSLRs which Sony found in some warehouse and decided to recycle.
The K-3iii itself is a Konica-Minolta 7D, which explains its slightly higher performance compared to any other "Pentax" camera. What we call an "accelerator" is actually software interpolating the image from 6 to 26MP.
Ah, the old Super-CCD from Fuji!

Too bad they can’t run my film-era photos - which barely have 6mp detail - through the software and show the detail that could be there if my “Super Program” had given as much detail as my KP does. 😀😀😀

The plastic shell of a "Pentax" camera emanates a nerve agent which affects your brain, making it "see" detail where there's none.
It also makes you perceive said plastic shell as a solid alloy body.

The only known cure is spending at least 10,000 euro on a mirrorless kit.

And no, you can't have what I'm smoking.

No, but the Oly patent may just be it.
? I’m sorry this confused me. Olympus isn’t the only vendor allowing IBIS and optical stabilization to work together.

It depends... Did you shoot much Ektar 25?

I used a lot of TMAX 3200 in my Super Program... and I often pushed it to ISO 12,800... yeah, not a lot of detail there... a KP gives laughably more detail than the faster films did back when the Super Program was modern...

On the flip side, I also loved Agfa 25 black and white, and it had tons of detail if it was developed properly.

Didn't some of the Sigma lenses work on Pentax bodies with both IBIS and lens stabilization?

Not quite. While - just as you remember - some Sigma K-mount lenses retained their optical stabilization and it worked, and obviously the Pentax cameras had their SR, there was no way to synchronize the two.
So you had to use either the SR or the lens' OIS, but not both at once. Otherwise you'd get overcompensation and blurry images.

Ricoh received from Panasonic video tech and from Olympus ’some other thech and they did get something from Pentax in patent exchange. Atleast based on recent rumour. This is where this thing refers to.

Yep... And that is the minimum. The 150-450 has an 86 mm filter thread (when the minimum standard size would be 82). I would think a lens that makes it to 600/5.6 would be Star glass and who knows what size it will be...

The FA* 250-600/5.6 gives us a hint....

How similar are the lens arrangements in the new patents to the FA*250-600, I wonder...

It would be interesting to see how things may have changed in the intervening 25-ish years...

The use of SR in-lens for long lenses will probably improve the PD-AF performance - and make the OVF easier to use. Olympus (OM-Digital..) make use of in-lens SR combined with IBIS in their 300/4 and the 12-100/4 to get impressive stabilisation.

I find that the DA*300 with 1.4x TC can be hard to hold steady - so in-lens SR would be welcome.

One thing has certainly changed the last 25-30 years - materials lenses are made of. My F*250-600/5.6 weights 5.3Kg and I am sure it could be made lighter with modern plastic materials.

That would end a huge disadvantage for Pentax shooters. If I can't stabilize my camera hand held, the camera won't lock focus. But, these are just patents. let's not get too excited too fast. It does show what they are thinking in terms of future development. I just can't get excited before they are announced.

I have a couple of friends who use Nikon, and have been shooting for decades before shake reduction technology came out. They love in lens shake reduction because of the viewfinder stability it gives them, their only concern is that it can make one lazy regarding handholding technique, and can give the user the impression they are holding the camera steady enough when in reality they aren't.
IBIS doesn't give a person that impression, so the tendency is to hold the camera steadier.
