D FA 21mm f/? Rumor(s)?

Has there been any update on when the new D FA 21mm will hit the market? I haven’t seen anything since it was first announced and was wondering if it’s still in the works? I have the FA20 f/2.8 and love it, but a more modern super wide lens would be great.

By the end of the year is the rumor and if so, probably in time for Black Friday sales (last week of November).

IMO, the DFA21 is ready, but given that Ricoh already released the K3 III, 16-50 and GRIIIx, the DFA21 is probably postponed to fit the gap between now and the release of the new K1 III. They've go to space product releases evenly in time to avoid a full year gap without any new Pentax product release, e.g spread it thin. Personally, I wouldn't expect any D-FA21 before June 2022, then may some rumors of K1 III in fall 2022 with a release end of 2023. That's just double guessing it.

Some days, "K1 II I" ? might happen, unless Pentax is terminated.

I really don't think that there is any reason to postbone DFA21 launch. Autumn is good time for new releases. Ricoh will tell when it is ready. Too bad that there is no actual 'news' yet. But Let's see, october is just around the corner.

I'm interested at the new 21, but I am not in a hurry personally, but I understand that for others it is different. Instead, I would be more curious to have an updated road map, to understand what Ricoh's plans are for the brand and what direction they will take. I think that with the current situation it is very difficult to have a program to show, but it would be nice to at least know the way.

There is a road map. I assume it's still valid, until a new one is released. There would be no point in releasing a new one, until there's something new to put on it.

There is new stuff that hasn't been released on the last one, how far ahead are you hoping for?

I'm not saying it's invalid.
At the moment (the current one is from June 2021) there is only 21 and a 70-300. Normally there were more lenses present, and nothing has been added since they came out. If the 21 comes out there will only be one left and his name it's not a film

A time horizon of 1-2 years would be welcome, and in my opinion a good sign of continuity.

I agree, and not just for personal reasons. I just can't see it being beneficial for Pentax sitting on modern FF glass. If its not out it can't sell.

Sometimes I wonder though if Pentax relies a lot on people who just buy everything they release. There seems to be some people like that on this forum and they certainly seem to exist in Japan.

It seems crazy to think the same person will buy the da1650 and the dfa21 but it seems those people exist in some numbers.

Perhaps they are in the process of creating a new dart board marked by new potential lenses to help them decide what's next.

With the D-FA 21 set to replace my Sigma 24 and 21 ltd. Their list of needed focal lengths is shrinking.
