Hey, I hadn't noticed that. The DA 12–24 I kind of expected would fall away, but the DA 560, too?

It's far out of my range and budget, but I'll miss it, all the same. Kind of a wild "halo" product out there in long telephoto land.
Looks like the DA 17-70 f4.0 also fell off the road map. That may make it harder and/or more expensive to get the SDM motor fixed. I would have liked to see that lens refreshed to a PLM version.

Are you really missing the 17-70 when the 16-85 is available? Or the Sigma 17-70 (assuming it's still available, I'm sure its days are numbered if it's still sold new).

If you live in the US and use a US repair center, Ricoh are obligated to offer reasonable repairs for your 17–70 for a while yet.

Companies in the US have to offer repairs (not free repairs, just repairs) on products for seven years after the last date the item was sold retail in California. This is a California law, but California is so big that it serves to keep spare parts available for US consumers. I sent in my DA 12–24mm and my DA 40mm Limited in for repairs in 2020 to Precision Camera (the official US repair shop for Ricoh/Pentax). They fixed my 12–24, but the returned my 40mm Limited as "spare parts no longer made." The HD DA 40mm Limited came out in 2012, so I guess 2019 was my last year to get my discontinued green-ring DA 40mm fixed. I think the 17–70 was still available for sale in 2018 or 2019, so you can expect to be able to repair a bad SDM on them into 2024.

How difficult it is to reason from insufficient data…
560 is missing. 200/300 are still there. Roadmap does not show a new tele. Why?
550 replacement will just materialize and I would assume that the older teles will be replaced as well. This could explain why there is no hint on the roadmap.

It fell off long ago, together with the DA 12-24mm f/4, between the 15th of May and the 26th of June, 2020.

I have 2 Pentax cameras K-5 and K-3. I bought the DA 17-70 back around 2014 for the K-5. I got a few years use out of it before the SDM died. With its short throw and very loose focus ring it is basically useless as a manual focus lens. On my K-3 I have the DA 16-85 as my primary workhorse lens and I am very happy with it. As we get closer to the end of the year I will decide what to do with my kit. depending where my finances go. The possibilities run from fixing the 17-70 or just replacing it with another 16-85 likely used keeping the K-5 or go all out and sell the K-5 and get the K-3 III and either another 16-85 or the 16-50 PLM. Now my wife and son use the K-5 and I use the K-3. I just thought it would be interesting idea if Ricoh did a refresh with the PLM motor, but it is clear that the 16-85 is a replacement for the 17-70 and a much better lens in my opinion, having both of them.

This is not about the road map, but the lens catalogue. The Japanese version has been updated, about a day after the roadmap went up.

https://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/japan/support/catalog/pdf/lenses_accessories.pdf

The most significant thing they have done is add the DA* 16-50 PLM and the DFA 21 Limited. These are now on the front page. The DA 560 is gone. But actually they have changed the layout of the catalogue quite a lot. It now shows the Limited lenses first and lists APS-C Lenses before FF lenses in each category. The old version had all FF lenses first and APS-C lenses after that.

The English catalogue is still an outdated version, so you can compare the new Japanese version with what it used to look like.

Does the colouring of the future lens indicator lines have any significance? If so, then I’d assume the wide-angle fixed focal lens would be a * lens (which the large aperture description also suggests), but I’ve no idea what the red line for the telephoto zoom lens suggests, other than an HD coating.

I believe it means "ordinary": not *, not Limited.

A red line on the roadmap means an undetermined category. The HD Pentax-D FA 21mm f/2.4 ED Limited DC WR was represented by a red line on the roadmap (same as the 'Telephoto Zoom Lens' then and today) when it was only known as 'Ultra Wide-Angle Single Focus Lens', that is, until 15 May 2020.

Similarly, the HD Pentax-DA 16-50mm f/2.8 ED PLM AW was represented by a red line when designated as 'DA Standard Zoom Lens' (from 28 February 2019 to 14 May 2020), then by a yellow line when designated as HD Pentax-DA 16-50mm f/2.8 (from 15 May 2020 onwards).

A yellow line means a DA lens, an orange one a D FA lens.

Thanks for the explanation. That all makes sense now.

Unfortunately, that is only for vehicles, if it is a "law" at all. Might be more of an urban legend that anything.

I'm surprised and a bit worried they did not put the DA 50-135 refresh on the roadmap yet.
