Any news on if they've added the FA* 28-70 f2.8 ?

I think the answer depends on the company's ability to get their hands on a lens, since it appears they must be programmed into the adapter.

That's surprising to say the least. I think it makes some sense, IF Pentax believes it will make more money selling a few lenses to Sony users than keeping current K-mount users locked in. The Sony market is certainly larger.

This is also great news for the Monster Adapter, as any kind of commitment from the OEM will likely give reassurances to some potential buyers, and might lead to better access to lenses and potentially firmware (that might be a stretch).

Note that Ricoh Imaging only selected a few, specific lenses for their lens+adapter kits: the three FA Limiteds plus the smc FA 50mm f/1.4 Classic with its ghost/flare signature.

Their endorsement of the LA-KE1 is indeed great news for MonsterAdapter (once a one-man's company) and their clients, current and potential.

Any chance of support for the Tamron 70-200 f2.8? Or the PLM 55-300?

Ahh, excelent news, glad to see the development is still active, I'll hold out hope for the FA* power zooms, my Sony VG-900E needs some Full Frame Video love.

This tells us how Pentax sees their unique selling points with regards to other lineups. I tend to agree that the Limited are the most unique elements in Pentax's portfolio. The ghost/flare lens (I look forward to see if it's truly any different from the SMC 50 F1.4) is unique if you want AF; if you just want a "cheap" lens for special effects, there are many manual options available on eBay and the like.

At first I thought about the upside vs downside of selling Pentax lens+adapter kit, but in fact there is no downside doing so. The unknown is how large is the upside (sales of Pentax lenses to Sony users). The harm is done by selling the adapter to owners of K mount lenses, and that is done without Ricoh involved anyway. The damage to Pentax market share is rather the availability of the monster adapter combined with the absence of competing full frame camera (K1 III) , making easier the move from Pentax so Sony via the purchase of a Sony body.

I think the strategy of Pentax in Japan is "Whatever you want to buy related to Pentax, buy it from us direct". That includes products like new cameras, used cameras, lenses, used lenses, third-party lenses, accessories, branded merchandise and so on. It also extends to services like eduction, camera rental, maintenance, premium firmware.

So selling this adapter is in line with that. It also shows that Pentax are open to a third-party ecosystem around their cameras, while other companies are trying to restrict that. It's a bit tragic that other companies have limited interest in supporting K-mount.

I just checked the price and to buy the set from Pentax is not more expensive than buying the lenses separately at another good store. So it isn't a bad deal at all.
