Indeed, looks like these will be separate events.
Which means this - official - Pentax meeting won't be about putting covers on some old cameras

I kind of like the “J Limited” work - I do own a K-30 - but I may be what we call a “philistine” ….. I’m unwilling to pay much extra for appearance, and once I owned a KP, I was unwilling to purchase a “J Limited” one also when it appeared on eBay.

New features in firmware for the K3iii is something to look forward to. Could we finally see in-camera focus stacking or sensor tilt?

+1 for in camera focus stacking!

Great to see some forward movement from firmware updates.

Hopefully they will show a 24mm* f1.4 lens under development.

I hope we get news of a K-1 III and a DA* 50-135 2.8 PLM.

I also am anxious to hear of anything regarding a K1 III.

I don’t think it’s likely Pentax will tease a K-1 III at this event while they are still producing and selling the K-1 II. They tend to talk about products in advance when they are filling a gap in the lineup, not replacing a current model.

However, there’s no doubt they are working on a K-1 III, because they are mainly launching full frame lenses. The K-3 III gives a lot of hints as to what it will be like. But it’s good to remember that the K-1 II is actually the second newest Pentax (strange to say it), and other models are overdue.

The only things we are specifically waiting for are a new GPS unit, a full frame telephoto zoom and a wide angle star prime. In theory, you could add the two 645 lenses that have been on the roadmap forever. Anything beyond that will be a nice surprise in my opinion.

I hope that the 150-600/5-6.3 stabilized lens will show up on the roadmap. It would fill out the lens line-up nicely...

I dont think Pentax can produce only the highest end. Something other than limiteds, stars and super teles are also needed.

The 70-300 SR lens on the roadmap appears to be a more budget-friendly lens. At least it isn't in any of the 3 categories you're mentioning

True but if you're talking about prime lenses, old ones maybe updated to HD coating can do the trick for now.
At the same time, I admit, I'd very much like a line of affordable F/1.8 primes à la Nikon. New ones, modern design with modern AF.
This is wishful thinking though IMO.

Tamron SP 35mm, 45mm and 85mm f1.8 would be good rebadged as Pentax.

I suspect they haven't brought back more "basic" FA primes (a 28 and a cheaper 85* are notable omissions from the lineup IMO) because they don't have the parts (mostly glass elements I guess) anymore and they are too expensive to source to the same spec - so they are not going to plug the holes.

A series of reasonably solid f/1.8 or f/2 solid primes, in the ~400-500€ range, would be interesting. Nothing too fancy glass-wise, but with DC/PLM motors and WR.

*I'd also add a 135mm, but that FL has fallen out of fashion - modern options elsewhere are premium f/1.8 or f/2 lenses.

While I'd like a 1.8/85mm AF, it would probably cut into sales of the 77mm (less so the 1.4/85mm, that's just too far away in the stratosphere) and still take time to develop because you can't just rely on older designs anymore. Unless you make it really cheap.
The lack of a 28mm is more keenly felt as there isn't a 24 or 28mm, but the same argument applies here.
I'd be really curious to see whether Pentax develops its own DFA* version of the 24-70mm FF.
