If the k30D comes with GPS, does that mean the location name will be saved as part of the EXIF info?
It can't possibly know location names. It'll just give you the geographical coordinates and you can use those with google Earth to find out exactly where that location was on the globe.

No, most GPS devices do not geolocate (the term used to take geo coordinates and name them based on human terms) they just insert longitude and latitude coordinates. There are EXIF fields specifically for this data apart from Location.

I looked up the Samsung GX's wifi grip and it looks like they're using the USB port on the camera to talk to it, so there's definitely no data channel to the grip :-P
Looks like it'd have to be redesigned for this if it's inside the battery grip...

bluetooth, bluetooth, bluetooth

Forget this GPS, HD video, and other nonsense, when one of the most useful tools on a DSLR would be bluetooth!

1. GPS
2. Video
3. Mobile phone
4. Live view
5. Your choice
Sounds like you just described the Sony A850/900. Who'd have thunk it, Sony of all companies offer the two most pure SLR's.

I personally would rather have all the bells and whistles. I'm of the mindset of if it doesn't interfere with the basic photography controls then it's no harm. Those that want it those features can use them, and those that don't can ignore.

Probably because he originally posted that back in December of 08 when there was no K7...
