Imaging Resource Camera of the Year 2021: Reader’s Choice Award

In what may be a surprise to the Imaging Resource editors, the Pentax K-3 Mark III captured third place in the 2021 Camera of the Year, Reader's Choice Award, following the Fujifilm GFX 100s and the Sony A1.

The other candidates were: Nikon z6 II; Nikon z7 II; Panasonic GH5 II; and Sony A7 IV.

The accompanying blurb is positive and effusive.

Nice to see some love to the brand. Pentax really deserved it, though with it being readers choice I am bit surprised, I thought that most readers would bath in the glory of FF MILC (in before some crocodile food start rants it was sarcasm).

Interesting to see that the K-3iii at $2000 was only beaten by two cameras priced at ~$6000.

I guess this is based on Pentaxians voting, rather than Imaging Resource choosing. I find it interesting that there are enough Pentaxians out there to move the needle for this sort of thing. Anyway, I think it is nice press any way you cut it.

I think it is nice that so many Pentaxians knew about that place - I certainly didn’t.

Or Pentaxians using Katie are more enthusiastic about their new cameras than people using other brands, where the jump in capability wasn't so dramatic..... let's not always take the most negative route possible.

Wasn't there something similar in Japan recently where Pentax was voted as one of the more venerable brands? I think it is more than mobilization of Pentax fans. There must be plenty of (D)SLR fans out there who like Pentax commitment to the camera type in a time with lots of mirrorless marketing and downright propaganda.
