Sigma 4.5 Fisheye

Sigma announced they would make this lens with a Pentax mount in September, with a release date of later this year. So far, I have yet to see one - which given my financial status is just as well.

However, I am anxious to see how well it performs on our digitals. From the reports I've seen on other mounts, it runs anywhere from average to great. Has anyone here seen one yet? Or even better, tried one?

I tried one in Paris photoshow.

@ 2,8 the image speak for itself :

(Bigger here)

Given the vignetting for a cropped sensor, I'll stay with my DA10-17mm as Sigma's only advantage is when you want to see the full image circle. What you actually see on the picture is not very different (just on much less pixels)

Quite expensive. The Nikon version goes (discounter price) for around $900.

$900?? Man that's expensive. I remember trying it out about 6 months ago at our local Sigma store, I think it cost around $600 USD equivalent.

Pretty cool lens but you lose so much of the frame

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Sigma 10mm fisheye works out. But then Pentax is coming out with the DA 15mm ltd (rectilnear) which will probably be more useful to me. That's assuming I have a job then and am not selling my current gear out of a box under a bridge.

With such a small useable area of the photo, I don't see this lens getting used by many people even if they want to spend that amount of money. I always see people saying "oh fisheyes are neat" but then never using them.
