K-3 III + 20-40 kit coming soon, also refreshed version of Kenko 400/8 mirror lens

Not sure why Nokishita Camera has grouped these products in one report, but they seem to have been added to retailers product lists.

It looks like there will soon be an official kit with the K-3 III and the DA 20-40 Limited (black or silver). This should sweeten the deal for some people.

Tokina is also making the latest version of their mirror lens available in K-mount (as well as many others), the 400mm F8 IIS. NIce to see a few makers still see the value in making K-mount lenses.

Isn't this Tokina mirror lens the same as Kenko one that has been available for quite a while?

Barney, yes, I'm fairly positive it's the same lens.

I think it's been through a few generations without any significant changes. Kenko-Tokina is one company. In any case, it's good to see Tokina has not abandoned K-mount, even of the product is not likely to excite anyone.

It's the Kenko lens: ケンコー「ミラーレンズ 400mm F8 IIS」means Kenko 400mm f/8 IIS mirror lens.

I don't know why the OP wrote Tokina instead of Kenko.

By the way, the latest version was named Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF and the penultimate version was named Kenko 400mm f/8 N II.

The 400mm f/8 N II was available in Pentax K mount, the SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF was not.

K3III + DA 20-40 is a great pairing and makes a lot of sense.

DA 20-40 is a great lens, that should help some people get it with a savings.

With no aperture setting to contend with and, I presume, no AF drive (correct me if I’m wrong) you’d have to wonder why the rebadge didn’t carry over a Pentax K variant.

Afaik those mirror lenses are actually T mount with the target mount screwed on, so adapting to K mount shouldn't be a problem.

Are those mirror lenses those ones that look like a giant barrel on the front of the camera?

You're right, sorry for the mistake. I guess I just read "Tokina" because I consider them the same company.

Actually, It's kind of interesting to see that Pentax Rumors reported this information including my screw-up with Tokina in the product name, while attributing it to Nokishita. It indicates that they just copy-paste information from this site with no fact-checking.
