By the way, there were six variants of the Pentax K-3 Mark III presented during the online event that took place on 27 November 2021:
  1. Jet Black finish
  2. Modified shutter stroke
  3. Monochrome sensor
  4. Manual focus camera
  5. Gunmetal finish
  6. Astro camera

According to the Ubgoe campaign, only five variants were proposed in the ranking survey.

(the title of the picture means 'K-3 Mark III survey results on special models'.)

Does anyone know which of the initial six didn't make it to the survey?
They've seemed cagey about the results, maybe trying to add to the intrigue and interest? I'd suspect the shutter stroke variant failed to make the grade.

I don't remember which option was missing exactly, but I do remember that the monochrome one, the manual focus one and the astro one were still present in the post-event survey. I cast my vote for the monochrome one. I think the second most popular one would have been the astro model, based on the results of the poll they did during the Zoom event.

I find it interesting that the price for the standard K-3 III + DA 20-40 kit is 299,800 yen on the Ricoh store (typical retail price is admittedly lower), and this black kit is 300,000 yen. So in fact the Jet Black edition is not sure a terrible deal, and it will certainly have more value on the used market.

So will the glass in the lens be transparent or will it be spray painted black with the rest of the camera?
They will use (black) obsidian for the lens elements, which will make the captured images completely free from CA.

Souped up anti reflection coatings that prevent any reflection off the glass thereby making it appear as if there is no glass.

Wait, the Jet Black K-3iii with 20-40 comes up to 2350€. That is a very decent price if one just so happens to be able to drop by Japan...
And the camera is really incredibly gorgeous.

You also need to be lucky enough to get hold of one on the 232 cameras produced.

I'll take the jet black version on all future Pentax cameras in my wheelhouse (FF, 645). Quite elegant.

Forgive my lack of knowledge about crowdfunding, but can anyone clarify how it works?

They have set a target of 10,000,000 yen, and the unit price is 300,000. So does that mean that they just have to get 34 orders and they'll go ahead with the project? Are they committed in that case?

This crowdfunding project is an all-in one: the target is only a target, not a threshold; regardless of the amount raised in comparison to the stated target, the number of kits and hotshoes ordered will have to be delivered, be it one single item or 232 kits plus 2,000 additional hotshoes or anything in-between.

Does anyone knows if they will ship outside of Japan? I found nothing in the description, and while I already have K-3/3 I would not mind having two hot shoes covers.

This is what the page say about deliveries.

Q: How is the delivery done?
A: Returned items will be delivered from the Ricoh Imaging Store.
・ The delivery company will be Sagawa Express
・ We do not accept date and time designation
Delivery destination is limited to Japan

I expected it somehow, but it still is like saying "go f...k yourself" to clients from rest of the world.
