which Pentax analog SLR has MLU (mirror lock up)?
KX, LX, K2, KM(?), PZ-1p has 2 sec MLU like the DSLR's.

I expect there are others.

For me:

I use my K10 and K20 almost exclusively now. I have three Pentax brand zooms that take me from 10mm-200mm. I also have a couple of the new Pentax primes and many SMC Taks from 17/4 - 300/4.

I like the smaller size and weight now as I move down the path from young whippersnapper "hood" to old fart "hood". It's easier to carry around.

If I need something special, like extra resolution/enlargement or fast wide angles, I use my old Canon primes and cameras.

I am not as young and stupid as I used to be and my back is not what it was. The reduced size and weight of the Pentax system is great.

On my last film only trip (to Rocky Mountain NP) I took two Canon F1Ns, 17/4.0 (104*), converted SMC Tak fisheye 17/4, 24/2.0, 35/2.0, 55/1.2, 85/1.2, 135/2.0, and 200/2.8. All but the 24/2.0 were metal barrels. I remember more of lugging the gear than of the pictures I took. (don't forget the tripod or the 20 rolls of film!)

The IQ of the gear exceeds my abilities most of the time. For 90% of the pictures I take, FF or APS size does not matter, so why not use lighter, smaller stuff.

p.s. I still see my Canon F1N with the 55/1.2 ASPH and my Canon 7s with 50/0.95 sitting on my shelf calling to me every time I pick up my K20!

About lenses : one can allways have a look at ZEISS. Yes, they are very, very, expensive but really good. I do prefer one Zeiss wide-angel enstead of an +/- even expensive wide-angel zoom. And Zeiss is FF!
So, I would be happy with an 21 mm, a 50 mm and a 85mm. A lot, if not all, can be donne with this combo.
The Pentax’s new 100 mm nacro, instead of the 85 mm, would be welcome too...

More than half who voted on this poll said they would pre-order, but I wonder how many would actually do so if Pentax does release such a thing. Out of all DSLR's owned, very few of them are actually full frames. With numbers like these, it's a bit too far-fetched. But nonetheless, the op did forget to add two more options; that is, No I will not get it rather than No, I will never get it; and Yes I will eventually get it, yet the same time how long is will "eventually get" it because it could be years and they might as well vote No instead.

I can say I would want one but unless it was priced at, say, the 7D level (a bit under the Sony A850 FF) then nope, I don't see myself every popping for a $2K+ camera body. I mean that much cash might let me by ONE new Pentax lens in the near future. But at around $1700 I would likely buy one within a year of release, assuming it did not blow...it would be a "first of it's kind" sorta body which can be problematic. In fact that alone might make me hold off for more than a year, at least 18-20months waiting for the production line to shake out the bugs.

I would love to get my hands on a K20D with the sensor out of the Sony a900 for under $2,000. Can they fit a FF sensor into a aps-c body (with modifications of course)? Given that the Sony a850 is rapidly heading towards a sub $2,000 price in Oz a new Pentax FF might come in at around that price point, probably $2,000+ initially then falling.

I'd pay $2000 for a full frame (and high-res, not 12mp full-frame) Pentax DSLR, tomorrow.

If you expect people to stay within the Pentax brand and not jump to Nikon or Canon after 2 or 3 DSLR's then you have to go Full Frame at some point.

People here are always going to cry and complain about price point. Nevermind those fools. Good stuff costs money. Deal with it. Most of those posts consist of asking for a Ferrari engine in a Chevy Cobalt body.

I love my Pentax equipment. But if Pentax wants to stay behind Canon and Nikon (and probably Sony), then by all means, don't make a FF DSLR. Maybe Pentax feels they can't lose if they're not in the game.

Sony's a850 has msrp of around $2000, if I'm not mistaken. A full-frame Pentax with a Sony sensor is inevitable (IMHO), though I'm not betting money on it. They already have a bunch of new full-frame ready--and fantastic--lenses (DA* 55 f/1.4, D FA 100 f/2.8 Macro WR, DA* 200 f/2.8 and as far as I can tell DA* 300 f/4).

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/31629-da-lens-...ts-thread.html

All they would need for a complete system would be a re-release of FA* 24 f/2.0 or something similar (they already re-packaged FA* 200 f/2.8 as DA* 200 f/2.8, so this wouldn't be anything new).

They just have to solder a Sony full-frame sensor in there.

Time to retire this thread, I guess. There's already one for 2010, so that will save time...

Well, I discovered how noisy the shutter of my K10D is when I played with a K-7 for some minutes (before that I only compared it directly to a K100D - and the the K10D appears to be very smooth :-)).

Which brings me to my real point of this posting: No, I don't want a K20D FF. I want a K-7 FF. Or actually, I'd be more than happy with a K-7. And if they bring out a "K-7 Super" with improved high ISO, it will be very hard to resist upgrading from K10D.

Pentax, please let us know when you are going to do FF. I'm going to be watching the follow-up to the D700 very closely. The 645 will make a great landscape camera but I don't want to haul around all that weight and oh, my poor pocket book. Please!
