I don't think switching is necessary: I can use one wide lens and a FF camera from another company (that stinks at the telephoto end)... But better is always better and I'd buy a 35mm Pentax DSLR for $2000.
Then why aren't you?

There is a difference between necessity and wishful thinking. DA 14 f/2.8 serves me fine.

Then you don't need a 24mm on a FF camera to make you a better wide angle shooter then.

My original point was this: I definitely would not *mind* having an extra stop-and-a-half at the wide end. I guess whether it's worth an extra $2000 is debatable.

Trust me, an extra stop and a half on a wide angle is not worth an extra $2000.

On the other hand, if the new sensor had ISO performance a stop better than my K20D, that would make it two and a half stops. I posted elsewhere that my wish is for a FF sensor with improved ISO performance, but pixel density similar to that of the K20D.

Put a focus assist beam in there and improved AF algorithms and it makes the $2000 dollars less of a waste.

But it's still out there in La La land, boy my Fanboy meter is really going off the scale. I'm going to have to go for a walk now and when I get back I'll probably have a cheese sandwich.

Seriously asdf, thanks for the entertainment, I don't mean any harm by my remarks.

Unless you really are a fanboy.

I thought you were referring to yourself as a Pentax fanboy. That would make far more sense given the context of our conversation.

No fear of that, I was maybe a little when I first joined the forum, got caught up in it all, Pentax management have been pissing a lot of people off since then. Now I consider myself a fanboy hunter, hence my sig.
The cameras and lenses are just tools, if I get to the point where they can't give me what I want, I'l get whatever brand does, I know there'll always be issues though.

Odd, I always thought that one was entitled to one's own wishes and style. Canon does produce 24/1.4L for a purpose and so does whomever produces 35/1.2 for rangefinders (the name slipped off my mind at this moment).

Personally, I've found that sharp wide open FA 20/2.8 is suiting my style better than DA 21/3.2... But then again, my daughter can now have her own good wide angle lens which is small and light as well.

P.S. Perhaps someone can explain me a concept of fanboys, even in private message since I realize it has certain importance and I am not sure I grok it rightly.

That point was more in reference to people waiting around for Pentax to produce FF. They talk a lot about how important FF is yet they won't go out and buy a FF camera. If that extra stop and a half is worth $2000 dollars why aren't they going out and getting a D700?

Fanboys are those who can see no wrong in the brand they have chosen. They tend to be very annoying because you can't have a rational discussion about the equipment because the brand comes before the functionality and reliability.

It's lucky I don't despise them then isn't it. Then you'd really be in trouble
