I understand that cell phone type GPS units use an assisted GPS system. They increase their acuracy by triangulating with cell phone towers in the network.
If the cell phone does not have a clear line of sight to the sky, then they use distancs to the cell transmition towers to determine your location.
I think this is how they are able to produce such small GPS units in cell phones.
Does anyone know if a cell phone can be used as a GPS when it is outside of available coverage?
