Ok, bringing things back onto topic.

My predictions for tomorrows anouncment, with percentages that were calculated with great care.

55% chance - new camera is the K-m but in "Forest green", "cherry blosum", and "Sky Blue"
35% chance - K200D Super with GPS (I know the rumor is the K20D, but I gotta be me)
15% chance - K20D Super. No GPS but with 5 FPS and new focus system
3% chance - LXD is finally released. APS-H or 135 format sensor, 3 FPS, Aluminium body anodized to match the silver limiteds, detachable handgrip, small formfactor and still have SR
1% chance - 645D
.5% chance - Hoya sells Pentax to Toyota.

Ok. something to chew on. Let go of the economic debate.

That is 2PM Pacific (GMT minus 8.00). Another 12+ hours to go.
I too feel this will be a colorful K-m. Like that of Panasonic G1.

Last ditch guess...
A K20d with a high resolution screen like the D3, A900, etc..., some firmware tweaks, and maybe GPS.

CALIFORNIA Legal K20D chambered in .50 cal AND .308 comes with GPS, night sights, new AF designed to work in total darkness using IR, prints large, sends emails/mms/sms to long lost non-planet Pluto, kills iPhones, and slaps people who hate Freedom!

oh it changes the definition of FULL FRAME to read APS-C with a crop option

I'm really hoping that it's either a K20D with better AF or a G-1/E420 sized DSLR. I think this is what nearly every Pentax user wants and either would sell terifically. Frankly, I think Pentax is completely missing out by not making a smaller DSLR. As we all know, Pentax already has all the lenses in place to really complement on of these. I know I would buy one in a heartbeat to completely replace a compact.

In all probability it will be something miniscule though.

Let's have a guess...

What do we have:
- the earlier announcement of Pentax US of its plans to make a limited lens case. Not marketed yet as far as I know.
- the following statement by Mr. Hamada, COO of Hoya: "we will relaunch ourselves next year as a manufacturer of all-weather cameras which are strong outdoors, highly water-resistant, splash-proof, and dustproof, small and light, easily portable and tough (durable)."
- announcement time is US market oriented, not Japan
- The remark of newby poster ibk stating that the announced item will show "the future of Pentax... in a way." so it hints at that future without really showing it.

Perhaps we'll just see a weather sealed version of the limited lens case.

The Pentax K-m / K2000D is already small and compact and similar in size to Olympus E-420 and just tiny slightly larger than the G-1. The Pentax K-m, with the DA 18-55 L is the worlds smallest DSLR package with kit zoom.

So I don't really understand here what Pentax is missing ???
