I know at least 4 people who would buy a Hello Kitty DSLR.

This announcement was a big disappointment.

It looks very nice.
Again, guys, what's so bad of that? White cam is nice. It's limited edition. Why are you so nervous? This cam will be easily sold out. Every cam. Cause there are lots of freaks and fans that like such things.

First, you admit there is a market for such products. Next, you are disappointed.
What's this? Are you disappointed if Pentax gains market share?
Come on, people! We all know you can't put "Hello Kitty" stickers on a black camera! It has to be white!

Now, seriously: I wouldn't worry too much about an entry level white camera; our K20D will remain higher level and, most importantly, black. Besides, the real announcement will follow (in January, perhaps?). And only after that, we'll see the new camera(s).
Of course, I'm just guessing here

Considering the target users of the K-m/K2000, it is perfectly in line with their strategy.
I don't understand most reactions of fellow forum readers.

This camera is not target at you, so why are you even reacting like that? This is all childish.

I love the cow and the kitty version. Think my daughter would always smile at me when I use it.

Though what I would really like is a silver K10d/K20d to match with the limited glass and the good old FA* lenses....

hello kitty is a no go. a Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya version ftw.

seriously though, I don't think it looks all that bad, I think there might be a bit too much contrast with the black and white ie: I think they should have left he lenses alone. but the body is ok. it will catch peoples eye, and I think that's a good thing. and as previously mentioned it will be a hot item for customization and personalization. this is something thats really big with todays youth and young adults, thanks in part to the spread of a lot of the youth japanese culture. I appluad it, but I think if this is the type of market they are shooting for they should be offering the k-m/k2000 in a rainbow of colors, that way it can directly compete with the G1.

Maybe they just want to atract attention to the brand? like "what is that white camera? Never seen something like that, all other are black"

Seamuis, a Haruhi Suzumiya fan? Don't worry, you can put what stickers you want on a white camera

The iCow camera - comes in 6 fps (fences per second). More custom decorations please. This thing will sell like crazy in certain markets. Ken.

This maybe a joke but I would buy it if it existed. That would make Photographing children easier and even other people too. I always thought most DSLR look too much aggressive, especially with the big zooms. Some people really feel incomfortable when you point a K20D with a 50-135 in their face.

For these reasons I may get a white K-m for street photography.
