Absolutely ******* hideous...

and embarrasingly butt-ugly to boot. WTF? I thought the whole idea was to get people to take you seriously...

One of the STUPIDEST moves they've ever made, and they should have just announced it when they brought the cheap camera out, not made a big deal out of it like this, like it's some major technological innovation coming out. Is this in response to Canon with their stupid ad campaign with Avril Lavigne? That's absolutely ridiculous as well. WTF is she doing with a camera taking pictures of herself? Arrogant stupid little *****, and even stupider ad campaign. Oh, I see, target the kids at Christmas...wow, how original.

Their marketing department gets stupider daily, it seems. Why don't they put some out with flames on it, or pictures of scantily-clad women? And the 'game' website is right out of 1997.

At least the Panasonic coloured SLR's aren't butt-freaking ugly like this.

Absolutely hideous, in very poor taste, and extremely embarrassing. While before we were just lagging behind technologically, now in addition to that we're the laughing stock of the photographic world.

I was joking on another site about the big announcement being minor upgrades to the K200, but this...

Unbelievable. Worse than I could possibly have imagined. Much worse. A white camera - unbe*******lievable. Definitely puts the PAIN in 'ad campaign'.

Cameron

PS: wanna buy some FA* lenses before the price bottoms out? Get in touch...

Help me understand how the camera is targeted to teeny boppers for Christmas (at least this Christmas), since it won't be available until next Feb. Maybe - and this could be the big secret we're all missing - there's also a time machine included. I'd rather have that than GPS - especially at my age.

Hey, I think it looks silly too (others will feel differently) but why such angst? As I mentioned on another thread, Pentax has been making "special edition" SLR's with goofy colors for decades. This gig is nothing new.

It is rediculous and it would probably be priced at such a high level that it would be cheaper to spray paint a normal k2000d. What is so innovative about coloring some parts white.

What's next? A blood red edition introduced by Bono, or worse, a pink-ribbon edition against breast cancer? Yeah that would just be what I was waiting for.

All the previous special color editions were pretty cool, especially for the time they were released. And I would still think it'd be great to own a golden lx or an lx 2000, even the k10d grand prix 2007 was special, but this is just a budget model that is being commercialised as the hot special camera from Pentax, which is indeed rediculous. I bet nobody was waiting for this at this forum.

Overreacting much? Plus I do believe I've already read this post twice before in two other places...

If the K10D had been available in white, I would have bought mine in white, Its less obviously a expensive camera, for when one is shooting out on the street, and when one is with a bunch of photographers with expensive cameras, it sets you apart.

I don't see what the big deal is about. So it's a white camera. If you don't like it, don't buy one. I think camo or wood grain would have been more fun, but what the hey! You honestly didn't think they'd debute a new camera a week and a half before christmas did you? If you did, I feel sorry for you.

Hi Jer
Couldn't agree more, about the angst and especially about the time machine part, just think we could all get perfect shots! "oops blew the highlights in that one, I'll just have to go back and do it again!"

What he means is Old Testament, NaClH2O, real wrath of God type stuff.

Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...

The dead rising from the grave!

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... MASS HYSTERIA!

Does that matter?

As long as it sells and still has the original black available I don't care what colours they made it into. The worse thing is I'm not going to buy one.

Of the few months I bought my k200d I haven't even bump into more than 5 Pentax dslr shooters so far (may be I haven't go out enough??). So a Pentax and "limited edition" camera will be harder to see than actually spotting the Big Foot .

Well said, my friend. Of course it could have been worse - they might have introduced a silver camera . . . . . . Oh, but that's just too diabolical - no one would do that.
