The question of a focus limiter doesn’t seem to have been answered yet, even though we know the lens barrel hasn’t changed significantly. We haven’t seen the full lens at this stage, so it will be a pleasant surprise if it does, but not a great one if it doesn’t.
Well, my Tammy 90 AF has one.
I must say, if it used for anything else than macro (and it's pretty nice as a portrait lens), the focus limiter is ver useful, even more with "legacy" slow AF as the focus throw is quite big.

As a macro lens (I admit I don't do much), I don't care much about AF though (but checking the noiseless AF +limiter or even clamp would be nice too).

Wow! It's really the exact same barrel. This is super interesting, I really wonder what they have changed optically, to my imagination it must be really minor to fit it into the exact same housing. That's not a bad thing, the main downside to dfa100 is fringing so if they solved it with only minute changes I'm impressed!
Yup it's darn close, I mean REALLY close, but the new version is ever so slightly smaller. Also a teeny bit lighter.

67.5x80.5mm, 345 gram weight for the current one
65x80.5mm, 340 gram weight for the new.

So I absolutely agree with it being an impressive accomplishment to largely eliminate the fringing without a major redesign of both lens body and glass. What we'll get is a still compact 100mm macro, smaller and lighter than some competitor's macros, while eliminating one of the most noticeable flaws under certain light conditions. Here's hoping the in-hand user results match and better yet exceed expectations.

As far as I see the new one is not on that list.
65x80.5mm, 340 gram weight is for the current WR version.
67.5x80.5mm, 345 gram weight is for the previous non WR version from 2004.

The previous change from 2004 to 2009 version was mostly external, but I think the 2009 to 2022 version will mostly be internal changes.

Because of the nature of a macro-lens and more so of a 100mm/f2,8 such a lens has a long focus-throw. This means more mass to be moved.
If the new 100mm macro lens is going to be similar in size, I daubt it will be with a miniature-motor because those will have difficulties to move that focus-throw.
We'll know when the lens sees the light and in the meantime: it is easier to come up with problems than with....
As it is clear by now that size and weight remain the same... we won't see this miniature-motor, impossible (and not really necessary for macro,
I remember that 60mm USM Canon-macrolens... limited but not Limited

Still, we must wait and see. We can dream up all kind of things about this new lens and be nowhere near the truth. The only thing I wonder about the picture that showed the two lenses if it was made on April's Fools day .

Ah, thanks! I mistook the 2004 in the middle as being the current version, and with part of the image masked by another info display confused the right-most for the new yet-to-come one.

This is really cool, I have the first version of the DFA 100mm macro. Lovely lens, I use it extensively, an updated version would be incredible.

Wonder if this could signal an update of the 50mm macro also.

Asahi Man wrote that it is unlikely to be with a screwdriver to most likely with an internal motor..

I have the F-version and I do not think that weight is anything to go by: F 100mm F2.8 74X104mm, 58mm filter thread, 590 gram, the FA version same measurements but 600 gram. The optical formula is the same 8-9, but that is just the number of groups and glasses. My F version also has a limiter . Seems that I am lucky. By the way the F 50mm macro has almost the same measurements as the modern DFA 100mm.

Perfectly acceptable to show a source.

For what it's worth AsahiMan said 11 months ago that a lens like this was planned. It gives me some faith that the others he mentioned are also on the way.

Just sayin'
FA 645 120 f/4.0 isn't internal focus.

About to the new macro, I really don't like the "fake" limited shape because... it isn't a Limited lens!
I don't like also the so simplistic operation to use the same barrel for the new top of the line macro: where is the focus limiter? Where is the AW certification?

Ah... it's only a DIY project done in the spare time
