Ricoh-imaging.eu to be replaced by brand-oriented sites

I've received an e-mail, saying that the Ricoh Imaging Europe website will be closed - and brand oriented websites will be launched instead.
That's in the line with the launching of a Pentax Clubhouse in Japan; except it seems the first sign of things happening outside Japan.

They say:
"We are currently creating new exciting websites for you. Our new websites will be brand oriented and will therefore have greater value for you. The first website will be opening soon."
- and they advise me to download all the invoices and so on until September 5th, because these won't be transferred (don't have any).

I don't know what to say about this separation of marketing efforts. Wouldn't it make more sense to integrate instead?
OTOH, I'd be glad to see pentax.* sites again.

They are segregating Pentax from Ricoh to sell it. Doom. Doom I say. Pentax is DOOMED!!!!!111111!

And seriously it makes a lot of sense if they want to go the "unique" way for Pentax. Making it part of big pile of various totally different cameras is counterproductive in such case.

But then rather then new pages I would like to have shipping available to all EU countries, not only selected few. It would be also nice to kick local partners in the balls and either force them to follow the main site or remove them and make translated version.

Polish Pentax (RI actually) page still has K-1 Mk II Silver as great news and KP as produced model.

It is a little ironic, now when Ricoh finally got a well working European website going, they will start with something new again.
The webpage is pretty much separated between Ricoh's different brands already.

I believe it just compartmentalization ( in the same way as in submarine or in ship). If one brand will be damaged beyond repair other brand could be kept unaffected.

I can understand that message, but the Ricoh-imaging webshop in Europe is not owned by Ricoh, but by a company called Luzern situated in Ireland. Luzern manages webshops for different clients amongst which is Ricoh-Imaging. That is what I understood from the change in 2020 (I believe when) Ricoh closed down its webshop and Luzern took over. Look at this email address " ricoh.support@luzernsolutions.com". And in my banking account I saw this when I bought my KP in 2021: "02 mrt 03 mrt LUZERN.*RICOHONLINESTR RICOHONLINE IRL", the year before it looked like this: "28 feb 29 feb RICOH EUR SAS BRUXELLES BEL". Which was indeed where the (head)office of Ricoh in Europe was situated within the EU. Then they offered a cheap SMC DA 35mm F2.4. But I have not heard from them, yet.

It is also a reaction to the much complaining here.
Just relax and see what happens - that reaction is a way of saying “there is no reason to complain about things we cannot change in any case.”

Yesterday I received an email from Ricoh Imaging Europe S.A.S. "New start + closing of the ricoh-imaging.eu website" (translated from Dutch)

In short:

- website closes on September 5th
- user data will not be transferred to the new website and you have to use your loyalty points before Sept 5th, in short a clean slate.
To be honest I find this behavior fairly crude from a commercial standpoint.

First I though that the new Pentax site will be quite empty but then I realised that it *would* actually allow them to produce content for the site more easily as well as more clearly promote the brands. The current sites aren't that good at showcasing products or content. It kind of gets buried.

Consider a kind of mix of Pentax Official and Ricoh-imaging EU sites. Could be a good move.

Not that it'll make any difference to their dire no, non existent, customer service. Had the mode dial failure on the K-1 and crazy mirror on the K-3. Emailed Ricoh through their UK website, got sent a customer service ticket and the name of the customer service agent. Then got sent to their official Pentax repair specialist, who turned out to be an auction house (?) who I looked up after I got no joy from Ricoh. I emailed them and never heard back.
Sent it to a general camera repair shop who fixed the K-1 mode dial for £90. Binned the K-3 as the repair quote came in at £280.
Pentax? Forget it. There's literally nothing there.
Never heard from anyone from Pentax/Ricoh again. Had that one email giving me a ticket number and that's it.
Anyway, the only items left to go are the FA 77 and a Revuenon 1.2/55. I may keep the K 1.2/50, but that's the only remnant of Pentax that shall remain.
