Ricoh imaging registration BC-186 Battery charger

On September 06, 2022, Ricoh Imaging registered the charger BC-186 in South Korea. Remember before the PENTAX K-3 Mark III was released, Ricoh Images also registered the charger BC-183. Could this be a harbinger of a new device to come?

Which new model are you most looking forward to? The 645Z after 8 years, or the K1 after 6 years, or the K70 after 6 years, or the GR3 after 4 years?

Wearing my pessimist hat, it's probably a new charger to comply with local electrical regulations.

Don't K3 K1 645D series share the same battery D-Li90? The novel thing of the K3 III was the USB charging possibility. Any new camera with this battery and USB charging would not need anything new for charging.
On the other hand a KP series with USB-charging

But how long can they keep on using the venerable D-Li90?

Either a mythical KPii or a K-70ii might need a lower-power charger for their {presumably smaller} common battery.
We know what batteries have been used; we know very little about “USB chargers” right now.

Well I think Pentax is overdue for a battery upgrade for its dslrs, perhaps the next FF will have a battery upgrade. Wishful thinking I know.

If they wanted to introduce a new battery it would have been smarter to introduce it with K3 III. A new FF camera will most likely use the same old D-LI90, and use same charger as for K3 III.

If it is a new charger it sounds more likely for a different battery, maybe for D-LI109 and for a replacement of K70.
Updated with use for USB-C, (or a non DSLR battery type).

645Z hands down. No contest at all, not even close. K1 was refreshed 4 years ago. I realize that's a minority opinion....

Now that I think about it, if they use in-camera charging, there is no reason for any other ‘charger’ - smaller batteries would draw less from the ‘charger’, and a larger battery would simply take more time.

Staying on subject, I can’t think of any camera that would “require” a new charger if they continue to use current batteries.
