The following rumour is to be taken with a grain of salt, not because of the source –Kimio Tanaka is perfectly legit– but because Tanaka-san says so himself:

I heard a rumour that PENTAX will soon be releasing a lens with "weird = unusual = innovative"
specifications, and while I am excitedly looking forward to this, it shall be taken with a grain of salt (or it might be a "fake news
").'
Since this short sentence includes a couple of slang terms and idiomatic expressions, I would very much appreciate people whose Japanese command is far superior to mine ( @JPT @kwb I'm looking at you
) reviewing my attempted translation.
Anyway, I very much prefer to report on such a rumour, however wild or poorly translated it might be, than on Ricoh Imaging discontinuing yet another Pentax lens.
