Digital Camera Info usually relay their posts. When they do, they write ソースは某巨大掲示板で、投稿主はいつものあの人だと思われます ("The source is a huge message board and the poster is believed to be that usual person") or something similar.

Edit: I forgot to mention that the guy who posts on 4chan includes links to Google Drive folders when publishing several and/or high-res images. The guy who used to run Nokishita Camera did the same. The 4chan guy and the Nokishita guy use the same Google account.

I was also on Instagram right when this was posted. It was already taken down by the time I tried to leave a comment. I didn't even think to screenshot it, but came here to see if someone else caught it.

There was some cool pics in there. A little place on the rear of the camera that said "monochrome" but besides that it looks pretty much the same as I can remember.

Very cool to see this project is actually coming to life.

Local dealer told me it’s true that a monochrome K3III is coming but he’s not sure about the exact timing of ETA Shanghai… I will definitely get one no matter from local or order from Ricoh Japan online store!

If it is true, then great for Pentax and a lot of applause from my side. But as my priorities and interests shifted a lot lately with photography I am not interested in the camera. I am looking out more for new lenses then new bodies.

I suppose not many here. But in the world (or even Japan only, depending where it is available) monochrome DSLR at reasonable price may be tempting offer for people who shot b&w film (be it 35mm or something slightly larger). Leicas are expensive and restrictive due to construction, and those does not exist on SLR. So I am quite optimistic for sales actually.

It looks like they kept the effort and upfront investment minimal, noch even changing the K3 III logo at the front. They likely can add the 'Monochrome' lettering to regular parts stock according to the demand, the rest is 'just' sensor and flashing the right firmware. I have no idea how well the sensor is decoupled from the rest of the main board, production-wise, though.
