UK and EU price includes VAT (sales tax), whereas US prices are without sales tax. UK price equates to $2324 when VAT removed, at today's GBP/USD exchange rate, so not as bad as it seems initially. Also pre-ordered

I know we often joke about Pentax marketing and decisions but monochrome version is just genius IMO.

GR and K1 are obvious targets too IMO.

I think monochrome would be the motivation for me buying a GR.

but it is available only in a K-3iii, a very expensive package for many of us; B&W film was a much less costly option ‘in the old days’.

So was bread and gas.

To be fair committing to film can be shockingly expensive now. Choose your shots wisely. The 300+ I captured on my vacation last week were free, the camera already being sunk cost.

Is there any hobby that is cheap?

What expenses are there for golf? Looks like between 1500 and 2000 dollars for a decent set of clubs. Then greens fees, balls, and apparel and it isn't exactly cheap.

Skiing, hunting, fishing -- most things out there seem to have expenses. If someone wants to convert the occasional image to monochrome, then a regular camera is adequate. On the other hand, if you mostly shoot black and white images then this would make total sense.

It's like owning a car and a Jeep. Both have their uses, and things they do better. Come to think about it a camera is a heck of a lot less expensive and cheaper to maintain.

Since my wife and I have been a one-vehicle family for roughly two years now without having to compromise very much, and reducing expenses by over $850 a month by doing so, my camera stuff is using free money, right? Right?

LOL! I figure that DFA21 I just bought is no more than a set of good tires. And the lens won't wear down by using it.

..and no, that's not the argument I made to justify it for my wife. She hasn't noticed it yet, or at least let on if she did. I have a great wife.
