Hi everyone. I'm still planning to put something up this weekend. I want to take natural light pictures but it's pitch dark when I go to work and it's pitch dark when I go home. So I have to wait until the weekend and try to sneak away from parenting duties for a couple hours.

I also have an offer to the forum.

I don't own a dSLR. So my test images will be done on 35mm gear. I'm pretty sure that whatever pictures I take, you will want to see even more.

So here's what I can do. If someone wants to meet me with their dSLR, I'll bring the lens and a FA77 Limited (the closest Pentax lens available for sale) and they can take as many test & comparison photos as they want. I may be persuaded to also bring along the A*85 as well.

The lens is currently making friends with a covey of other fast portrait lenses in Edmonton, Canada. Send me a private message if you are interested.

I wonder if The Pirate will respond?

I read through it and left a comment, but again, thanks for the review. Very much appreciated. I reckon you'd goad quite a number of forum members to search for this lens (be it Polar, Samyang, future Series-1, etc.), myself included.

that's interesting. I don't know why they'd put that in the name. I didn't even realize it was there until you pointed this out Mike. What I did notice on my 1st look is Minimum Focusing Distance: 3.3ft (1.0m) ... for an 85mm lens? I thought, "woa, pretty far" when I read that. What's that like a magnification of almost 1:7? Not very 'macro-ish' at all.

What we need is a Vivitar 85mm f1.4 maco lens that has the IQ and 1:1 macro capability of the Series 1 105mm f2.5 macro lens .. all for under $400
I'm first in the Q

1:10. A case of human error at the ebay seller level I think.
