Sigma launches 18-250mm DC OS HSM lens. Will the Pentax version have OS as well?

Sigma launches 18-250mm DC OS HSM lens.

Designed for use on cameras with APS-C / DX sensors, the lens is expected to be available from March, for Sigma, Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Sony mounts.

Will the Pentax/Sony versions have OS as well? Would be nice to be able to choose between sensor and optical stabilization.

I am betting the OS will make this lens about $100 more than the Pentax and Tamron 18-250. If you have SR built in the body, seems like a waste of money for something not truly needed.

I've seen optical stabilization at work, and it is indeed very reassuring to see. Problem is it doesn't work as well as it's supposed to.

(tested D40 + 50-200 VR vs K100D + Tokina 70-210. SR better than VR on all accounts)

Is this test available to see online?

I thought that third-party lens makers drop the OS/VC for the Pentax version.

I'm pretty sure that OS needs fairly sophisticated input from the body. I doubt that it would work on a pentax.

On other Sigma lens with OS, the OS is only on Nikon, Canon, and Sigma mounts. No OS on Pentax and Sony mounts.

that certainly nails it... plus pentax and sony have sensor shift so there's no reason for them to include it... either they'll make pentax/sony version a little cheaper to sell more or price the same as canon/nikon but skip the OS so they can have a bigger margin.

Pentax probably won't have a mount in this ... they usually follow suit with Tamron ... and I'd say they'll go the 18-270mm lens instead.

The Pentax 18-250 will be replaced with the Tamron 18-270.
Sigma will come out with their own 18-250 for the Pentax mount.

Nobody wants to buy optical designs from Sigma because they reverse-engineered all the lens mounts.

I have OS in my camcorder and it still hasn't cured my shaky hand.
