I'm really rooting for Pentax on this one. I have some other bases to cover, before I could start salting away for one, , but a really choice lens around 55mm would really be the centerpiece of my system.

With my film bodies,it's possible that if someone glued my 85 on there, I might not notice for a week or two.

I guess it depends on what aperture one uses.
If you shoot with aperture F4 and beyond, the DA55* probably doesn't offer much more than what the FA50 does

hmm, after reading all that, I think I must have a damn good copy of an FA50/1.4.

but then again, I am never one to rush out and get something I can live without, just because it's new.

I usually use anything from 2.0 to 4.0 with my FA50. I don't see how your statement makes sense.

with all due respect, of course

And the good news go on for me. My dealer here in Germany had a special price deal last october. The DA*55 pre order for 429,-- Euros than the list price of 529,--. This week Pentax Germany highers the list price up to 649,-- Euros!! But today Pentax gives OK to my dealer that the special price of 429 from October is fix for the pre ordered deals!

Rainer
Just received a message from the dealer. The DA*55s are definatly on the way from Japan and should arrive in the middle of february in Germany. So hope I hope to hold it in my hands in around three weeks.

The real question is what year...it's been 3 years since the infamous 60-250 was announced...so why would you think the 55mm F1.4 will be here in 4 weeks?

Uh, a couple of posts before yours are already listing the lens as in-stock.

It's interesting, though, why Pentax managed to push this out the door before the 60-250. Something tells me they're sorting out some issues with that one (or redesigning it, who knows?).

Nice shot ! I made a good resolution to buy it for 425.21 ...

I hope it will not last to long before it arrives...

Covering FF circle without obvious vignetting!
Me likes that! I think Pentax is thinking about the future.

Hmm, makes me wonder if some of their lens delays have been because they're backtracking on commitment to APS-C, and continuing to support FF.

A guy can hope, can't he?
