She really LOVES K20D and it was a total surprise when I bought it prior to cashing out all our Pentax goodies. K20D is an exceptional camera, so feature rich and a heck of a deal at $689 or less. I'm glad I got it before I sold off my Pentax and K Mount accumulation of lenses. If I ever cash out of K Mount I won't be back. Buying used glass from a dozen+ sellers isn't always fun or as described. I've gotten burned on more misdescribed pentax ebay items than my prior 15 years of shopping for used canon and nikon and olympus gear. And with Pentax offering weather sealed dslrs I assume more older lenses will succumb to fungus and related wet weather damage.
I have no intentions of buying a 2nd D700 or a 3rd 5D. I have been considering a Panasonic G1 to use my old canon FD telephotos with but missed out when they were $450 to $480. Now at $599 I lost interest in impulse buying it. I opted for Nikon D700 instead. I figure I'll get a 5D Mark II right before Christmas 2009 thru Spring 2010. I'm not real excited about having a 21mp camera so I may skip it entirely.
Really though unless I see an incredible price on anything equiptment wise I'm fine with withdrawing from buying new stuff. Thats the nice thing about having 6 dslrs, getting a 7th one isn't vital. Nor is getting another full frame needed with 3 onhand. The current K20D special at $120 more than I paid is easy to pass on but may represent the best deal for 2009? I'd say wait till the promo is almost over for a better price on it. Its a shame they raised the price before the rebate, but thats money in my pocket instead of theirs.
