Not really. The FF cameras are targeted at the pro market. APS-C cameras will continue to sell much better because most people don't need a pro body, and even though most want them, they aren't nearly as affordable. The pro/rich amateur market will never be as large as the regular old hobbyist market, and Nikon addresses that with APS-C cameras, and now affordable primes aimed at use on that format.
Plus, from what I know the D3x is essentially the same camera as the D3 with a new sensor and some other minor improvements. So, it's not like they invested a lot in R&D, yet they charge $3000, or something like that, more than they do for the D3.
On the topic at hand, I don't think this announcement says anything about the future of Pentax product design. It does seem to reinforce the idea that APS-C will not doom them, and FF is not the only option for staying afloat in the DSLR market.
