K20 price drop

B&H just dropped the K20 body price to $712; too good a deal to pass up, so I didn't. It should arrive in a week. Now, what's the best walk-around mid-zoom for the K20?

wow, good deal! congrats!

Kind of depends on what you define as mid-zoom, but I'd say 28-75 f/2.8 tamron, or 17-70 f/4 pentax sdm, or 50-135 f2.8 pentax.

I still can't believe how cheap this camera is! The Canon or Nikon counterparts are still close to $1000.

I accidentally won a new K20D at ebay for $530, great price, compare to Nikon D90 and Canon 50D, what a deal.

Was this from ProDigital2000 (think that is the name) from Canada?

An old Tamron 28-105 is my tool of choice. pretty cheap too nowadays 2nd hand.

even with the 17-70, 17-50, 24-70 F/2.8 out there, doesnt really give the reach for spontaneous shots that may need some tele. Hope they will update this lens soon as when i compared with the newer Pentax 55-300 pictures, clearly shows the 28-105 is very outdated optically.

Should be Hoya`s strategy to get more people into the Pentax camp since Nikon and Canon recently upped their prices. Some stores went up as much as 20% overnight on their lenses and accessories.

starting to look like printer selling tactic, sell the body cheaper but make a profit from the accessories and lenses.

I got a K20D from PRodigital for $600 off ebay... great price... shipping ended up costing me $45 + some damn bank charge (currency exchange??) for another $20...

In any case, it took 2 weeks to deliver, but it was brand new and still a great price....

Accidentally?
Well in that case I will give you $555 for that K20 on purpose.

And one 16Gb SanDisk SDHC unless you live outside of North America. (just stirring the pot)

not to be a spoiler but you better check carefully just how "new" it is.

I would suggest the 50-135 as a good walk around. Then also carry around a wider prime for the occasions the 50-135 isn't suitable.

Congratulations on the K20 by the way.
