I saw it on a show here in sweden on friday, looks and feels very good, but way to pricey. Seems to be like 2x the price of a Sigma 70-200 and even more compared to the Tammy 70-200.

I've got to admit, if Pentax can hit near FF-quality (in terms of ISO, etc) and keep the price and weight down and introduce a pro-level dMF body/system, it actually makes sense.

With APS-C, you can still use FF or APS-C lenses - and with most FF lenses hitting a certain sweet spot with the crop sensor - it's almost the best of both worlds. Heck, if Pentax can sell enough of the crop sensor dSLRs, maybe they could sell the dMF at a loss and undercut the competition (FF Canikon, Hassy, Leica.)

I hope the optics are good. If the AF is good enough and its optics are excellent, I'll probably get one after the price has gone down a bit.

Happy February 23rd everyone.

...and if so, just in time for noone on the globe to have expendable income to spend on the luxury of spending more on this f/4 lens than one would on a 'similar' focal length but not weather sealed f/2.8 lens. I go back to my earlier post on this lens in this thread. I'm over it and they missed their chance to get me to part with my sheckles on it. I'm likely to use a zoom to 200mm lens and crop @ this point (and not use it it wet weather).

If it still provides what I need and if I have enough money I'll get it. I can't carry the 50-135 and 200/300. I'd rather have just 1 lens.

I'd rather have Pentax provide that option even if most people won't be happy with it. Its price will go down surely, just like everything else.

Ha, ha... heard that! The pressure is mounting. Not hearing a reliable peep about a new DSLR from any manufacturer yet. Someone somewhere has got to squeal sooner or later. Surely there is something worth squealing about by now... isn't there?

I was really hoping someone would one-up Canon's tilt shift announcement with a new body announcement. The tilt shift lens gives me hope, because it's an ambitious niche lens, not a conservative mass market choice. I'm hoping that may mean makers are thinking of innovative new things and not playing it safe.

Nothing is unequivocal from Hoya. Their communication with the Pentax customer base has been ... more than lacking.

There was a decently looking pair of point & shoots from Samsung announced today [I like that they have IS]. I started a thread on it that was summarily ignored... lol [https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/52076-does-news-samsun...ml#post500252] point I was wondering was could this be the start of the releases? Or could this be the extent of the releases?

Hmm. So much for that theory.
