It's not unlikely there will be no new DSLR body announcement, especially a flagship body announced at the PMA in 2 weeks. If Pentax is not ready or it's not into their marketing plan at the moment, they could very well wait until the next big show...perhaps PMA Australia at end of June. Just a thought.

Well its looking increasingly likely that this years PMA will be quite quiet in general.

I am hoping Pentax announce a new K30D or K3D purely because I have the funds, and desire, to upgrade my DS at the moment.

I hope they don't have the audacity to show the 60-250/4 as if it'll ever see the light of day!

Maybe their big announcement will be, "The Pentax DA* 60-250mm was a joke."

It will probably be a new line of rifle scopes or a white paint scheme for the binocular line.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a K200D replacement. When I picked mine up the sales guy said that the K200D is listed as "no longer in production" in their system ... that was just last week.

I've read rumors that Pentax is going to re-launch itself as an "all weather" brand. This kinda confused me as most of their bodies are sealed fairly well already, but I guess they can get better? Or maybe they just plan on putting more emphasis towards that in their marketing? ... already talked about here https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/45592-pma-2009-rumors-pentax.html

PMA Pretty quiet yet...

Only a couple of manufacturers are going to show this PMA a new DSLR. Sony isn't one of them (some site leaked it.. bad bad), Canon or Nikon won't, and DPR hints towards only a couple manufacturers that will so.... that really only leaves Oly and Pentax ... (doubt panasonic is going to do anything). If I was a betting man Id bet more on Pentax than any other company right now.

With the economy though, I woudln't be surprised if nobody announced any DSLR's this PMA. 08' was so busy they can all wait till summer (when I know there will certainly be action for new DSLR's).

There's an outside chance that Nikon will intro or at least preview the D400 - if not at PMA then soon after. There are handbooks available for pre-order (similar to what happened before the D90 was released) that will ship around June/July.

It seems that this summer is shaping up to have a lot of dSLR releases and updates.

It make perfect sense to me that Pentax will announce K300 (with 14mp sensor) and Olympus with 12mp E530. E4x0 line probably will be discontinued to make room for the micro 4/3 bodies.

Oh yeah I am looking forward to the micro 4.3s. Although the Panasonic sensor is quite noisy to me.

Everybody on these forums seems to want a K20d replacement but it actually makes much more sense (*) to upgrade the k200d.

1. Both (k20 and k200) were introduced together last year, and the higher end models tend to have a longer cycles.

2. The k200 is weirdly placed at the moment and Pentax would probably want to lift their prices a bit.

3. A k300 at a higher price would interfere with the k20, but both are after different targets and many would choose newer+smaller over older+more features (as in K-m vs. k200).

4. Incidentally, Pentax recently introduced this new reabate scheme that apparently resulted in increased price for the k20. How convenient. ;-)

And 5. The new k300 (or whatever it is named) will look really cool in white.

All this guaranteed 100% baseless speculations of course.

(*) then again, this is Pentax...
