i paid less than half for my K200D body in July (600), than it costs to get a K20D now (1227 @ DCW)

90% for less than 50%. i think that's a good choice, don't you?
Ditto. I bought the K200D with kit lens about $600 when the K20D was still north of $1,000. That's a lot of money to me.

When I ordered my K100DS, the K200 was around $800. It was a not brainer to pick the smaller body.

Pentax shouldn't priced the K20 so much higher than the K10. Hoya got greedy.

Actually, I have no idea why the K200D exists in the product line. It doesn't seem to have much to differentiate it. Why not simply buy the K20D?
Economics. I bought my K200D and kit lens, the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL II, for less than $700 ($670 to be exact). That's considerably less than the price of the K20D body alone.

OK, I work that out to maybe about AUD$220 with postage at a guess.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

Not sure how much that helps from down under, but it's available for 146$ (Canadian) from The Camera Store.

Sorry about that. I always get annoyed when a US store sells something cheap and won't ship to Canada.

That's globalization for you, end-user side. ;-(

K300d ...

Before K-m/K2000D it was K200D as a cheap camera and K20D as a enthusiast camera. Later on Pentax introduce K-m as a low price camera to compete with Nikon D60. But then it was little room for K200D as it was to close to K-m/K2000D, so the new K300D probably have same sensor as K20D, video and same autofokus as K-m. And K30D also going up one step to something over Nikon D300. Then you have three cameras, one cheap instep, one economic enthusiast camera and one top camera.

I've been looking around as I am soon to buy a K20D and have noticed no K200D's anywhere but I was surprised to see the K-m on shelf's (what a neat little package that camera is - very easy to hold.)

Strangely though I have seen the K200D still available in JB Hi Fi - I am just wondering if JB Hi Fi are selling Grey market as they are the only ones to Market the K200D with the Pentax 18-55 lens exclusively - usually CRKennedy seem to like promoting the Pentax brand with a Sigma Lens Kit ( well it seems the norm in pretty much every camera shop in Perth.)

Anyone in the know on this?
This is the Pentax USA's online store and price breakout for the dSLR lineup. These prices are a bit higher than retailers but are good for comparison.
